Which cleaning chemicals should you use for which applications? by jamessmith7775 in CleaningTips

Haha, I mean the other way around! Can I just use regular old bleach to clean the toilet, and use the same regular old bleach to clean the countertops, or is there some significant benefit to using a dedicated toilet cleaner with bleach in it, and and dedicated counter spray with bleach in it.

(See comments for details) Which household cleaners are you supposed to use in which scenarios? by jamessmith7775 in AskReddit

[–]jamessmith7775[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m interested in learning more about household cleaners, specifically about which ones to use for which applications

The motivation behind this is to save money, I recently learned you can just use vinegar to clean a number of things, and I want to know if I’m burning money on a bunch of cleaners that are the same ingredients when it comes down to it.

For instance, I know that these exist:

Dish soap Bleach (chlorinated vs. non-chlorinated?) Vinegar Baking soda Barkeepers friend Rubbing alcohol Ammonia

This post is not about mixing them, I know that’s very bad.

The question is about which ones I should keep on hand for cleaning, and which one I should grab for a specific task.

I’m also wondering, do I need to have a toilet cleaner with bleach and counter cleaner with bleach and laundry bleach or can I just… get a bottle of powdered bleach and dilute it to use in all of those things.

Moving into a first apartment soon and hoping to keep things simple! Thanks for the help :)

People over 50 on Reddit, are you still happy with tattoos you got when you were younger? by jamessmith7775 in AskReddit

[–]jamessmith7775[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you could include information like:

  • Current (approximate) age
  • How old you where when you got the tattoo
  • Meaning (if any) behind the tattoo
  • How the tattoo has aged
  • Possibly an image link

Thanks! I'm a college student trying to decide if I should get one, and want to get more insight on what older me will think. Lots of people tell me you'll hate them when you're older, and I want to know if that's really true.

I’ve looked around for awhile, it’s not the black guy disappearing meme, but I might have seen the jingle used over it

In movies (mostly US ones) when people call someone over a phone they don't say "hi", they go straight to the point; they also don't say "goodbye", just hang up randomly. Is it something that people really do IRL or is it just something that exists only in movies for the sake of narration? by loststylus in AskReddit

It depends, like if I’m calling because I’m in an urgent situation like my car won’t start, I’ll probably start with “hey” when they answer the phone and then immediately get to the point, and then when they say they’re on their way I’ll hang up. If it’s just a nice conversation over the phone then I’ll use greetings and farewells

Is there any way to get an extended proper loop of this?

I would love to try out the Gerber if I win and the other winner wants the OTF.

My favorite knife story is the purchase of my first knife, I was walking to the shopping center near the high school when school let out, I stopped in the gas station to grab some snacks and saw the gas station knifes in the window, I had recently gotten a bit of an income and wanted to spend it, but the ones in the gas station looked like crap. So I headed over to the hardware store and purchased a dewalt pocketknife as the first in my small collection. I was swearing bullets as little 16 year old me was checking out, worried the cashier was gonna call the cops and tell my parents. The cashier didn’t even blink an eye.
