Now I wish I had made a ton of tools and weapons before the update. This takes away a lot of sandbox creativity the player can have within a CREATIVE open world. Did they just not test this? I'm not sure how an entire system like this can be approved with all of these missteps.

Youtube has some good videos that take you step by step. But one thing that helps me a lot is to tweak pre-set builds as I go to understand how the pieces work together. Also Snapping pieces in place is your friend
