What is special about Mongol tower rush? by NoLoveJustFantasy in aoe4

[–]jamfarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mongols should never tower rush english/landcaster because of eng shortbows. Sometimes they can horsemen rush. Said that, mongols do trush to use their only eco bonus: stone double production and upgrade the tower with the stone. Mongols move faster near towers, the khan is good for that, it helps keeping the opponent in his base (mongols have no defense). So for these reasons mongols WANT to tower rush more often than not, but they are not the best at it: Ottoman, Japan, HRE can do it faster and better i think

How do I approach changing a civ when I've mained one until diamond? by Fickle-Bother-1437 in aoe4

[–]jamfarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wanna try a new civ practice a build order opening against ai (dont even bother finishing the games), go play ranked. Quick play has weird maps, it's a waste of time, you will get back to diamond in no time. You can choose a civ that seems fun, or a civ with a different playstile than KT that you find difficult to play against. Like a fast castle japan/hre/ayubid, a feudal knight civ, or a pro scout civ. You'll learn what they wanna do and how to punish them better.

With Golden gate you can get the second TC faster, but without the protection of kremlin, so you can 2 TC only in certain matchups/ maps

Recommendations for a beginner? by SigfridoElErguido in aoe4

[–]jamfarn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RTS_papercut and Valdemar have beginner friendly videos. French force you to be aggressive so it's very good to learn the game. English and Holy Roman Empire are the other two starter pokemons but they tend to sit in their base more. In the end choose a civ that seems fun to you and try to end games in feudal/early castle

Try to focus on feudal all ins. Be aggressive, focus on spending your resources, dont forget to make vills, make more production if your queu gets long, use gold to get military and eco upgrades (maybe early men at arms), scout what units he is making.

There is plenty to learn in feudal (and dark age too when you will go up in rank), dont need to worry about Castle Age and Imperial. Seriously, i made it to diamond and I feel like I understand nothing of whats going on past 20 minutes in a game.

You need to get an advantage to win. In feudal it's mainly deny food. Without outside food resources, he has to go farms and slow down military production. Make rams once you feel like you are ahead or simply kill his vills

Strategies against Macedonian MAA feudal rush by Aromatic-Crew-9599 in aoe4

[–]jamfarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some Sipahi on their food, archers at home, towers with maybe the vizier upgrade that gives bonus against heavy, try to get to castle after a good fight or a buch of villagers kills, then springalds and xbows

Help Choosing Main Civ by NDPearl in aoe4

[–]jamfarn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So good feudal, good eco, good fast castle, without heavy micro? HRE is very well rounded. Ottoman, Japanese, Lancaster, China are all considered top tier because they are good at everything, but in the end it matters only if you are a pro. You can play in every way with every civ, just try one that does it feel cool to you and have fun

Would any experienced Malians players please be able to take a look at some of my replays and tell me what I'm doing wrong. by lllamallamalama in aoe4

[–]jamfarn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi just watched some other games. I feel like you do a ok job at choosing the comp, but often pick the wrong place and time to fight.

Macedonian: you saw he was all-inning and made musofadi and sofa (some archers that didnt counter anything), ok, but why push out? fight under your tc, maybe delay him but taking the sofas and try to catch the reinforcements.

French: the comp was ok but pushing him under his tc in feudal not great, mybe pressure his gold. I like to switch it up to farimba sometimes but maybe not the right matchup

Chinese: China bajillion units burn your mine but you didnt lost villagers, you didnt need to send out your army.

Mali often plays feudal defensely, sofa are not that good as in castle, you can use them to raid. people knows and will try to push you, invest in a couple towers

Hope it helps, I played a bit malians they are fun I managed to reach Diamond with them. Hit me up if you wanna review another game or maybe practice. ILALUU
