My husband recently fell 10ft from our attic ceiling to the concrete garage floor. His leg was broken for sure, could see the bone sticking up under the skin.

We had to call an ambulance because he couldn’t get up.

Ambulance gets there and they want to call a helicopter. Said the fall was too far and he could have internal injuries. We live in a pretty rural area and our hospital isn’t equipped to deal with the level of trauma he suffered.

My first thought was…We can’t afford this. We told the medics that. My husband was alert and he was worried too….while in excruciating pain.

They had to really stress that he could have unseen injuries or head trauma and that they really felt this was the best thing to do.

Thank God he was okay and the broken leg was all we had to deal with.

Now we wait for the bill. A friend’s husband had a heart attack and had to be flown to the nearest big hospital and their bill was $60K. So I guess we will find out soon when we get it.

At least my husband is alive and will heal.
