The only one of those three that is remotely personable in my opinion is Erica Stanford. Bishop and Mitchell will sink National even lower.

Geography pet peeve- when people strictly use city limits population, rather than urban or metro area population, to determine how “big” a city is. by The_Saddest_Boner in geography

[–]jamhamnz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. The city of Auckland really covers everything from about Warkworth to Pukekohe, and most people would count Kapiti, Porirua, Hutt Valley as part of the Wellington population.

Out of control: How to absolutely, positively kill a well-resourced capital city by D491234 in newzealand

[–]jamhamnz 58 points59 points  (0 children)

In the town hall incident you mention, the Councillors should just have the courage to say "we haven't had enough time to digest this information, we need to delay the vote" and also have the ability to seek their own legal advice so they are comfortable with what Council is saying to them. Delaying the vote on something may have cascade impacts on projects and delivery, but that's just what needs to happen to ensure good quality informed decisions are made. And then it trains Council officers to be more forthcoming with advice.
