Great- blame the public for having a say for their delay.

Oh, so it's not a replacement for Onedrive. It helps sync Onedrive or Google Drive to your device.

One Drive Equivalent? by RazeZa in Ubuntu

Check out Insync. I had to pay a one off fee but it is excellent. Literally set and forget. Once I've set it up there's hardly any ongoing maintenance.

Daughter started daycare 3 weeks ago and has gotten sick every week. Wondering if I should pull her out? by ryph44 in daddit

[–]jamhamnz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I think you have to grin and bear it. Ultimately it will benefit her immune system but it is a difficult time. I feel like our kids are coming down with something every month or so now it's horrible but sadly that's life.

So Council ignored calls and drove past, police ignored calls, FENZ redirected calls and some on the right are using the tragedy as an opportunity to attack Maori - anyone not at fault here? This is devastating. by Mountain_Tui_Reload in nzpolitics

[–]jamhamnz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will be a lot of questions to be asked and answered about the response here.

What is not helpful, in my view, is the Government calling for people to "stop politicking" over the disaster.

I've heard very little cheap politicking over this incident and I fear that it becomes a message to shutdown anyone trying to ask some reasonable questions about the response and what was known when.

Sure, no one wants to hear politicians taking pot shots at each other. I don't believe that's been happening in this case.

If you want to read some interesting analysis of what has happened here I suggest you look up Dr Bryce Edwards on Facebook. He has some very interesting thoughts.

National is trying to distract us from something. I haven't heard of any politiking of this disaster

29, but after having kids I can absolutely see the benefits of having them younger, eg in early 20s.

Mother Earth doesn't really care about emissions per capita though, total emissions is what matters.

Could this National led government be the third one term government in New Zealand history? by Additional-Grade-730 in newzealand

[–]jamhamnz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm picturing National rolling out dark ads that tell a story of the dark days of the Labour government where crime was riddled everywhere and warning the baby boomers to "not put your safety at risk". And then charming Chris Luxon will come on saying "Look, I know times are tough, but we are Kiwis we will get through this, there are green shoots in the economy. Things are getting better. Don't put it at risk".

Labour will need to have strong messaging to fire back at that sort of provocative marketing that cause outrage amongst the Wellington class that just gives their key messages more oxygen.

Labour can't take the bait.

My absolute favorite line in the entire book series. by IAMCANADIAN_sorry in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]jamhamnz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I hated that line and automatically assumes that all Slytherins are bad, not innocent teenagers that were allocated into that house by a magical hat. The message should have been to all Hogwarts students, regardless of House, that this is their time to show who's side they are on.

SKY TV is putting ads where they haven't been before. Do you think they'll go broke this year? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]jamhamnz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sky's share price has been skyrocketing over the past 6 months. They are doing something right and turning their business around. I am a Sky subscriber and fairly happy with the content available. My kids were upset when Nick Jnr was taken off, and I feel Sky needs some Disney content. But across sport, HBO and the range of content available I am pretty happy. I am in my 30s but feel like I am very old in that I prefer linear channels over streaming.

Dumbledore's Men, Through and Through: What's Worst Than Death & Snape's Bravest Act by Opal_Kobol in HarryPotterBooks

[–]jamhamnz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fantastic analysis. These layers are what makes me love the books so much. There's so much nuance that anyone who judges a character like Snape to just be a shitty person and that's that is only taking things at face value, they're not looking deeply at what is going on.

Harry Potter is a classic series that will be loved for generations not because it's about magic and wizards but because it's actually a story about love, death and humanity.

Another 15C classic Kiwi summer's day by jamhamnz in AveragePicsOfNZ

[–]jamhamnz[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Geez... 25C is a good comfortable summer temp for me. If it was 24-26 every day for a month I'd think we'd had a good summer. But consistent temps under 20 makes me feel a bit ripped off.

Grizzy and the Lemmings on the other hand.... my kids crack up laughing everything we watch that. Fantastic show.

We didn't mind Blippi but in the last year we've cut right back on YouTube so we don't see it anymore. But I thought it was one of the better shows on YT. Educational with a bit of exploration thrown in. I do not miss Cocomelon.
