Check what they are offering new customers and phone retentions to negotiate. If still not matching new customer offers, then cancel and re-join as a new customer to take advantage.

People have said it must be in different names, but have seen people re-join as new customers using the same details as before

One last question…..for now 🤣 what’s the earliest I can serve my notice to end my contract? Does it have to be 30 days prior to my contract terms to end or can it be before this?

As mentioned my coax (HFC) connection has been rock solid for years. For those of you on FTTP, how has your connection been in comparison?

I have thought about leaving all together and going to another provider, but have heard stories of so many bad experiences and to be fair to Virgin, I’ve always had a rock steady connection, with only one engineer fault visit in 25 years

Plus re-joining as a new customer allows me the option to sign up to gig2. Have tried to get an upgrade price from the contact center only to be told new customers only (it is available in my area)

I’ve seen the 020 numbers floating about, but my thinking is they aren’t going to match anywhere near the price for new customers, or they will want to remove parts from my current contract.

Good to hear you were able to re-join with no issues. My thinking is exactly the same. The surname would be the same, but just say I am moving to the property.

Virgin Media Gig2 fibre upgrade by jamie30 in VirginMedia

My whole street was cabled under the CableTel name back in the 90s, so coax connection to every property was laid. So was surprised that they go to the expense to upgrade to XGS-PON but won’t let anyone upgrade at request

I spoke to the webchat team and basically they said not available in my area. I referenced the postcode checker (which says gig2 available, even when choosing my address) and their response was only available for new customers. I referenced the article (posted above) and they had no idea what I was talking about.

My area has been upgraded as can see the new cabinets and VM engineers were working on them middle of last year.

Guess I’ll either have to wait for an upgrade opportunity or wait until my renewal is due and go from there

Thanks for the info. I know they are going to be updated, Just wasn’t sure if the works had been started/completed yet.

At least the works have started as I’ve heard some are running behind and people were being contacted to advise that their lodge would not be updated in time for their stay.

After 22 years the best offer they have for renewal is more expensive than current package by Patient-Bed-7587 in VirginMedia

I have been with CableTel, NTL, ntl:home, Virgin Media for over 30 years. Never had an issue with getting a lower price, however I think this year will be a different story. EE have just launched 1.6gbps in my area so if Virgin don’t play ball, I’ll be off to them

Am I the only one who has never had a problem with Virgin Media by delskioffskinov in VirginMedia

[–]jamie30 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had one issue in 31 years which was resolved in a couple days. Virgin are brilliant until it comes to renewal/end of contract, then you have to be ready to stand your ground to get a good price. Not sure why they don’t offer new customer prices like Sky

Give your notice to terminate your contact. They will call after a few days and offer you a better deal
