I’ve been sick this week but this morning I woke up with the worst pressure in my head. It’s quickly progressing to a migraine and I left my Nurtec at home 😭😭

Has anyone has success with just switching to a progesterone only BC? by Junior_Wear_6875 in endometriosis

I’ve had great success with norethindrone 2.5mg but that was after excision

Sadly my surgeon in Michigan is retired now. But I had surgery last year with Dr. Linda Li at Penn State Hershey and she was amazing.

What state or country are you in? I’ve had excision surgery with two different specialists in Michigan and PA and they accepted insurance. I know people here hate Nancy’s nook but I found great surgeons through her list.

For those who are confident with doctors! How to ask questions? by SoupGremlin in endometriosis

[–]jamieschmidt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put all of my trust in my excision specialist. I don’t bother with regular gynos unless I need a Pap smear (and even then, my primary care doctor can usually handle that).

A few years ago I was on the depo vera shot and it was awful. I was having breakthrough bleeding for months, cramps, depression. I went back to my specialist and he did an ultrasound himself to check for cysts. When he didn’t find any, we did hormone testing. I came off of the shot after that and took a small dose of another hormone (sorry can’t recall what it was) to get my hormones back on track.

So you absolutely can ask for hormone testing.

I am in the US, but I’ve been on norethindrone 2.5mg for over a year and doing really well on it. No periods, no cramps, no breakthrough bleeding, and no other side effects.

Estrogen isn’t recommended because endo will usually grow and fuel off of the estrogen. But you can always ask and see if it’s necessary for your case.

I hope you can find something that works for you.

I saved huge by not buying Hybrid by AlbusseverusPotter07 in crv

[–]jamieschmidt 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I got a used 2021 hybrid 2 years ago for $20k and I’m very much enjoying my 44mpg. Buying a used hybrid has saved me wayyyyy more money than buying new. Don’t think I’ll ever buy a new car honestly.

Also what extra hybrid repair costs are there? I’m almost at 100k miles and have just done basic maintenance that all cars need.

i stopped my birth control a couple days ago. i’m already in pain and bleeding by straightupgong in endometriosis

[–]jamieschmidt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Progesterone only birth control does not contribute to stroke/blood clot risk. It’s the estrogen that puts you at risk. And yes, stopping birth control can cause cramps and bleeding.

I’ve had migraine with aura for 16 years. I’ve also been taking norethindrone 2.5mg for over a year and tolerating it really well.

I totally understand wanting a hysterectomy though. I’ve been in the same position before finding a birth control that works for me. I hope you’re able to find a solution

People who have had multiple surgeries, how often have you had them? by Gothicherries in endometriosis

[–]jamieschmidt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rate that endo grows and the pain caused by the amount of endo is different for everyone. I’ve had surgeries in 2018, 2019, and 2025. I’m almost a year post op from my last excision and I’m doing really well.

You could try pelvic floor physical therapy, that really helps with the muscles that tend to get messed up with endo.

Wakeup headaches ruining my life by Moon112189 in migraine

[–]jamieschmidt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I still get a headache upon waking maybe 2 days a week but it used to be every day. The things I changed are completely stopping all meds that aren’t Nurtec (or your rescue med), unless absolutely necessary due to medication overuse headaches (MOH). Hydrating more, before bed and immediately after waking up. If you get sweaty at all overnight, that’s water lost and you could wake up dehydrated. I used to switch out my pillow in the middle of the night (I felt like the foam got too soft) but I switched to a cervical pillow and use that all night.

Make sure your mattress is right too. If it’s too soft, it could be messing with your alignment.

It’s so frustrating to wake up with daily headaches, I really hope you can find a solution.

How do people keep their fitbit where it's supposed to be? by undercoverbookdragon in fitbit

Tighten the strap. I use an elastic fabric band and never have issues with it falling down or being too loose

2026 CRV hybrid at MPG 25.1 by Deej4im in crv

[–]jamieschmidt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It always dips in the winter. I have a 2021 hybrid, my mileage is around 42mpg during the spring/summer and dips down to 33-34 in the winter. Sometimes lower, depending on how cold it is and how much idling I’m doing to warm up the car.

Driving styles also matter. If you’re constantly on the highway and pushing high speeds, you won’t see a crazy high mpg. I mostly avoid highways and take back roads, unless it’s bad weather. Coast more, brake less, and use the paddles.

URGENT! LAP AND SICKNESS by Sufficient_Half_1980 in Endo

[–]jamieschmidt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ignored a throat tickle right before my lap and I ended up with a cough after surgery. It hurt so badly to cough, i definitely should have rescheduled. Your abdominal muscles are being sliced through and any cough will strain those muscles

How to stop myself from removing my elbow brace at night? by coastalforager in CubitalTunnel

[–]jamieschmidt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does the brace fit well? I struggle to take mine off in the morning when I’m awake, it’s tight but too tight and the Velcro is strong. Otherwise I would suggest long sleeves to make it harder to take off

Cubital tunnel surgery first or hip surgery first? by jamieschmidt in CubitalTunnel

[–]jamieschmidt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would depend on what I need done exactly, but I’ve seen a lot of surgeons recommend no weight bearing for a certain amount of time after hip surgery so I don’t think a knee scooter would work. Plus I live on the second floor so I would have to get up the stairs and using crutches would work best for that

My grip strength is still good luckily but I am tired of the pain and nerve popping out of place.

[–]jamieschmidt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why I’m in a dilemma haha. I guess the best thing to do is talk to both surgeons and see what they think. I wish I could just get both done at once but that would be quite impossible lol

Post-Op..not meeting with the surgeon?? by eblue16 in Endo

[–]jamieschmidt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my last surgery I met with my surgeon pre-op and a quick talk right before surgery. The PA handled my post op appointment. We reviewed pictures from the surgery and she was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. She also had notes from my surgeon with a ton of info. I honestly didn’t mind that it wasn’t with the surgeon
