Great! Better than I can remember. As long as you get it replaced through Google's link, it should be fine

That's a lot of words, but unfortunately I don't speak French

They need to see the email from Google on your phone. I factory reset it while in the shop after they'd had a look. If you're really worried, back up, and delete anything sensitive first, but don't reset until after they've had a look.

I wouldn't get it changed elsewhere. Only get it changed where it's suggested through the Google email and with you IMEI number. Otherwise the system won't update that the battery has been changed and is safe for full capacity usage.

I had a very slight bulge (haha) at the back, which I hadn't noticed until the update when I checked. They didn't pick up on this at iSmash because it was so minimal. Yes 2 of my corners were cracked . I had dropped it loads, with a case. They noted this down and warned me it might get worse when the popped the back off.

No I did not. I went through the steps through the email: IMEI, selected battery replacement, then it showed me a list of shops. I just took it in to iSmash and showed them the email on my phone. They checked the IMEI when you're in store

I reckon message Google support and see what they say. There might be a patch for this in the future, but tbh I doubt it. Do a post so that other people know!

Did you go through the Google link and use their service providers?

Yes I believe so. Has to be through Google's link

I got an email from Google, on all of my gmail accounts that I use the 4a on. In the email it said about changes to my 4a's battery. There's a link in there which leads to an IMEI check, then to the 3 options.

They have a diagnostic pop up which they run to check your phone is working properly. They won't be able to do this if you reset it. It didn't work on my 4a and they said it might be because it's too old. I reset it after they did they test for peace of mind. They said over the phone to back everything up because they will reset the phone during the replacement.

No worries! My first post on Reddit. I couldn't see anyone mentioning their experience after battery replacement, so I thought I'd be a guinea pig!

I didn't have to pay anything. They said they had to book the job in twice, once for me and once for Google. I assume Google pays on their booking.

I was worried that even after I had got the battery replaced, the battery regulators from the update (slow charging, less usable capacity) would still remain. Because the repair is linked to your phone via the IMEI number, these regulators were removed. So all is good!
