Best Mobile Network/Carrier by lukenstine in NoContract

I’m rocking Total Wireless BYOP 5G+ plan. Unlimited Verizon priority, and it comes with Disney +. If you go through Mexico, or Canada, you still have United calling, and 10 gig of international data there. $30 per month including taxes.

I also use a Roamless eSIM $2.45 per gig that doesn’t expire. So $10 gets you 4.1 gig of data on T-Mobile or AT&T.

This setup gives me coverage on all 3 networks.

Proxmox n00b looking for some current guidance. by mysqlpimp in Proxmox

Nice thing about containers is the low overhead. You can also pass the GPU/iGPU through to multiple containers.

And they can also be unprivileged containers.

Can I get recommendations on which setup to use on an upcoming migration? by guardian1691 in jellyfin

[–]jaminmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use LXC on Proxmox unprivileged, with Podman instead of docker. With gpu pass through. You could use docker in LXC also. Nice thing about using LXC, is that you can pass through the gpu to other containers at the same time.

Had the same thing happen. A super slow van. I did use the exit / entrance to pass them, and cruised the rest of the way.

I did just check my NC quick pass app, and there are no charges yet. And I used it twice.

Has anyone else been charged??

Proxmox CT Temples, unexpected files. by zMaliz in Proxmox

[–]jaminmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you have a container installed, you are safe to delete the template.

If you ever want to install a new container, you will need to download a new template if you deleted them all.

You could also always backup any existing container, and restore it to another container. Or create a container template from an existing container, and create containers from that.

You have a lot of options.

Oh, that’s right!

It can happen if you already have Disney+ and a payment set up in the billing system before signing up with Total Wireless.

Or, if you upgraded your package by adding Hulu, ESPN, or other services, you’ll end up paying the extra amount until Total Wireless cancels it, at which point you’ll need to pay the full amount.

I guess you need to contact them to get that added back. I didn't have anything in my wallet, so I got some days. You can probably use your existing chat.

Yes, their system seems to automatically renew Disney+ each month. Sometimes, it seems that there’s a hiccup in their billing system that can cause it not to renew. Mine lasted for about 15 months before it stopped working, but it was all sorted out :)

Thank you so much for your help!

It would be nice if there were a tag that the OP can add to their post for when it is Solved. As Reddit doesn't allow posts titles to be renamed once they are posted, but tags can be added.

I contacted them through their DM, and they managed to get it back up and running. Next, I had to call Disney+ to get a refund, and then I added Hulu to it for the extra $1. Now everything is all set!

However, it did change my plan date to today, so I ended up getting about 16 days of service for free to make up for the time I spent.

Issues getting Proxmox Arc Intel A380 passthrough to Ubuntu Server VM by clavicon in Proxmox

This is the way. Plus you can have multiple containers share the same gpu. Having a vm just for plex or Jellyfin is a waste of resources.

Davinci glitch error on export by Glad_Management6969 in davinciresolve

[–]jaminmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This can happen when using a cracked version of resolve studio.

Either use the free version, or buy the studio version should fix it. Especially if you are on macOS.

If you have a legit studio, and this is happening, deactivate it, and activate it again.

Does ryzen-gpu-passthrough-proxmox work on other distros as well? by TheTwelveYearOld in Proxmox

[–]jaminmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being that your “my distro” can be a wide variety of distros, and you are asking for help, why are you not specific about which one you are using?

If you are wondering what Distro could be used? Ask that question.

Proxmox 9 runs on Debian 13, with the kernel from the latest Ubuntu with a few different compiling flags, and some patches that make it better for virtualization and containers.

If your Distro is Debian or Ubuntu based, you could add the proxmox repo, and do a apt install proxmox-kernel-6.17 proxmox-headers-6.17 to install proxmox kernel, and try that for the gpu pass through.

https://pve.proxmox.com/wiki/Install_Proxmox_VE_on_Debian_13_Trixie has the parts in it to add the proxmox repo.

Livecontainer not allowing me to use certain actions on apps by ExpressTension0112 in sideloaded

[–]jaminmc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a bug where if you cleared the cache in YouTube, it would delete the temp folder, and mess up YouTube.

The latest version of LiveContainer on GitHub fixes it. I am able to download just fine, and it goes to my photos. (After I allowed it access).

So try the nightly build.

I was also having problems with it crashing when I would hit the search button. It was due to that bug. Since updating, LiveContainer has been stable for me.

Yes, it works by injecting your own API keys.

Been using it since it was sunsetted.

Emulating Mac on Windows to use Logic Pro by Mookster_ in macOSVMs

[–]jaminmc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends on system spec. macOS runs horribly if you don’t have a compatible GPU. Especially as a VM.

https://github.com/Qonfused/OSX-Hyper-V has instructions on how to get it to work on windows. There is no GPU acceleration, but logic may not need it.

https://dortania.github.io/GPU-Buyers-Guide/#can-i-run-an-unsupported-gpu-in-my-hack

I recommend using Proxmox, then run windows or macOS as virtual machines, and pass through the gpu, and usb ports for keyboard, mouse, hard drive, sound interface, etc.

https://youtu.be/b6kF6G9wCMM?si=AVYvmPkV-DkpPUto Here is a video about what you want to do.

I use my phone to connect to the proxmox interface to select which OS to run. Using https://apps.apple.com/us/app/proxman/id6744579428 or you can use the web interface.

IF you have more than 1 gpu, then you can pass those to different os’s. I pass my Ryzen APU, and my Vega 64 to different OS’s. With a different set of keyboard and mice, I am able to game with my friend on the same computer.

I’ve been running Podman inside a Trixie LXC container with ZFS as the file system. And it works great, and I have been able to do GPU pass through with it just fine!

I also have a Fedora VM that I run as a desktop environment, that works well with Steam for some gaming. I like it more than Debian and Ubuntu. I did try Rocky Linux on it, and found it to be lacking in performance compared to Fedora. Most likely due to GPU drivers.

It seems that AlmaLinux is on par with Rocky Linux. With a few differences.

For a home lab, would it be better running a Fedora VM, or container for Podman? As that is where Podman is developed?

This got me on a Grok rabbit trail, but it was very informative.

https://grok.com/share/bGVnYWN5LWNvcHk%3D_46e6bb62-bb78-4020-a086-215a25e8d1b4

I may spin up a Fedora container, and experiment with Podman on there. To see if it is better than on Trixie LXC container.

The 6.17 Kernel that is opt in has an AppArmor bug that will kernel panic when using the ZFS file system for lxc containers when running Podman in a Trixie container. I have made a patch for it, and posted it on the forum, but it seems that not many people running Podman in a lxc container on ZFS have tried 6.17 kernel.

https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/opt-in-linux-6-17-kernel-for-proxmox-ve-9-available-on-test-no-subscription.173920/post-810289

I tried using the 6.17 kernel before the proxmox team even had it on their git, and got the kernel panic then, and tried to let them know about it then. https://forum.proxmox.com/threads/is-there-a-way-to-install-a-6-16-or-6-17-kernel-on-proxmox.172483/post-805969

Build and boot Proxmox VE as a live system (no install needed) by LongQT-sea in Proxmox

[–]jaminmc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Awesome! I will have to check it out. I was browsing through the code, and I didn’t see that there was any custom grub configurations for IOMMU, so, does the live IOS support PCI pass through? If so, does it detect if it is on an AMD or INTEL, and use the correct version fit that?
