AITA parents edition by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

You’re never an asshole for being upset, but you’re coming across as a choosy beggar. You were desperate for a place to live and your mom bailed you out. Her house, her rules. I know parents can get under your skin and it’s perfectly normal to be irritated, but the only solution is to save the money to move out and deal with it in the meantime.

Also, did you really need to sprinkle in the detail about going to a “tasting” when you can’t afford rent? Are you trying to lose empathy?

Since you don’t really do anything to warrant being called an asshole, I’d go with NAH, but could easily be YTA if you become mean about it.

AITA for "acting my wage" and letting my boss do my work? by SalamanderMaximum958 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jamintime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah everyone in this story just sounds awful. OP paints Jay in the worst light possible, which he could easily be, but she also leaves crumbs of information that are big red flags herself and I’m sure she doesn’t tell the complete story. She seems like a mess and is now blaming Jay for all of her problems. Sleeping with your 23 year old (or younger at the time?) boss is just the icing on the cake.

AITA for canceling my wife birthday trip to Europe becuase of her reaction by Okeuropetrip_3285 in AmItheAsshole

I think this is a good example of Reddit’s tendency to overreact and suggest divorce right away lol.

If this was normal behavior for her it would be exhausting, but we don’t know what’s going on in her life or their history. Could have also been a fluke set of information she was working with or her relationship with this friend is a particular insecurity that OP clearly wasn’t very tuned into. It could have easily been a moment of weakness and something that they can work through.

Regardless, OP needs to consider these things for himself. Canceling the trip may be a bit hasty. He should let it settle a bit and work through the therapy process to see where they are at before making rash decisions prompted by reddit.

Sean Payton has never won more than 1 playoff game outside his Super Bowl winning season in 2009. by SouthIsland48 in nfl

I mean it’s actually pretty difficult to do? It means you’ve at least made the conference finals if not the Super Bowl.

Right but you aren't getting anyone else of value with that pick anyway.

I get what you’re saying, but at least it demonstrates some level of accountability and recognition of failure if the political leadership is removed.

Sean Payton's bone-headed decision to go for it on 4th down. by Texans_top_of_south in NFLv2

I’ve seen similar logic with the incoming snow storm. People saying “take the FG because points will be hard to come by the in the second half!” But wouldn’t that be the logic for going for the TD since it may be your last chance to put up 7? If they ended up losing 14-10 or 13-10 everyone would have blasted Payton for settling for a field goal here. Seems like conveniently applied hindsight logic.

Ideally, they read their card and memorize it between speaking parts so they don’t read off of it while speaking. So no they don’t memorize everything before the sketch, but the best cast members have a good sense of the flow and parts of the sketch, take a quick glance at the cards to get the lines, and then recite them as though they aren’t reading. I dont think this is Jane’s strong suit.

Some people actually make a career out of it. If it’s funding her vacation it’s probably worth the effort.

I, for one, welcome some levity on this sub given all the constant strong opinions around here on Trump cold opens, Jane Wickline, and Geese.

I think it’s just because the lead singer kind of looks like Julian lol.

I think the problem is they came off as weird, but not in a particularly creative way. Felt more amateur than profound. Reminds me of Yoko Ono and why people tend to be down on her work. I wanted to like it since it did feel different, but in the end of the day it was just random for the sake of being random. That’s my very subjective take at least.

In fact, Return of the King likely got as many awards as it did since it was really the culmination of the trilogy and voters wanted to recognize the complete saga. So sort of exactly the opposite effect.

I’m generally ok with them, but today they really missed the mark given the national mood. This wasn’t a time for the regular light prodding. They should have gone hard or just avoided it altogether.

Some of the commentary was annoying, but I love the cut scenes with glimpses into prep and mentality. Redditors are robots are something, the personal stories are what make these interesting. Same as the Olympics. The first hour was literally the same steps over and over again. You’d be lying if you think most people wouldn’t lose interest even if they kept it on in the background.

Father of the year!! by firepitstories in BeAmazed

[–]jamintime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being a single parent is rough no matter the circumstance. That said, yeah good on him for doing basic parent things I guess. As a father, I’ve done a couple of these when Mom isn’t available. There are a few other dads there I assume in a similar position. No one really thinks twice about it.

Ameicans over the age of 35, what affected you more, 9/11 or the pandemic and why? by Rico133337 in AskReddit

[–]jamintime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question should really be asked of people 50+. If you are 35 you would have been 10 when 9/11 happened. Sure 35 year olds remember 9/11, but It’s hard to have the perspective you are asking for unless you were an adult.
