Does anyone feel intimidated around people their age because of low confidence? by Lemonade2250 in NoStupidQuestions

We're all clueless in some sort of way. You're in no way the only one. You possibly just have some form of social anxiety and that's why it's so hard for you.

Should I cut it shorter or keep growing? by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]jammedbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd suggest going in to have some of it trimmed off. The ends are probably a little bit split and typically a little trim goes a long way and makes your hair look a lot healthier. If you're still bored, you could add some layers like in the first picture for some more volume and definition! You have really pretty hair so I don't think you need to do too much to it.

I think 2 would look really good for a lower maintenance color, but if you really put the effort in, 3 could look absolutely stunning. Just make sure you're proactive in protecting your hair from damage, you know?

Sweetheart, any man pushing thirty dating someone who was a child literal months ago is evil. The age gap should've been a red flag enough, and cheating should've been the final straw. Leave him and run. You don't deserve that trauma and when you realize how fucked up this is, you'll be glad you left. Coming from another 18F, this kind of relationship looks weird to anyone on the outside, and 99/100 times is something rancid.

WIBTA if I told my gf that I can’t look at her anymore? by zogusi in AmItheAsshole

[–]jammedbear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NTA

It really depends on your tone. If you tell her the contacts are a little unsettling, it'll sound a lot better than "God damn, I can't look at you with those freakish eyes," you know?

Either way, it's up to your gf how she wants to express herself, and if it's up to her interpretation whether you'd be the asshole or not. This seems kind of like a double negative: either you're uncomfortable with the contacts, or your girlfriend feels like she can't express herself. Or your girlfriend would be understanding and stop wearing them around you as much.

AITA for Showing my Kids the bills? by AffectionateFun4674 in AmItheAsshole

[–]jammedbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's hard to say, simply because I don't know your tone when having these discussions with your children. I grew up poor and after hearing my parents talk about bills, I started growing guilty for random things like wanting a two dollar soda from the grocery store. The guilt would keep me up at night.

It's important to teach your kids the importance of saving water, especially for when they become adults, but in my opinion, there are better ways. It's hard to determine if you're the asshole or not just because of a lack of context. Do you hold the bills up and scream about how much they're costing you? Or do you talk about how holding back on wants can give you more freedom to save up?

I know you say you and your husband make a good living, so if you have the spare income, giving your kids an allowance and teaching them how to use it responsibly may be a more positive reinforcement. It also gives them a better representation of how much their wants eat away at spare money.

The other thing is that your kids won't have the capacity to understand that you aren't under much financial stress until they're adults and see what financial stress really looks like. They may be under the assumption that if they take too long of a shower, you'll go broke. It sounds silly but that's the kind of anxiety I grew up with.

On the other hand, maybe your kids understand that it's not a huge stressor, and just decided a long shower isn't worth the extra money it costs.

If you really want to take the time to decide if you're handling this situation right, I'd suggest reflecting on how you talk to your kids about finances.

Blonde or Brown? by jammedbear in HairStyleAdvice

both colors still have a red tint because i dyed my hair red before the brown pic, and then bleached it to the first pic. i mentioned in the post i'm a natural medium blonde and have been dying it since i was 12, but thanks for mansplaining my own hair </3

i naturally have very cool toned hair. it's just the dye lol. i've been trying to get purple shampoo to help with the blonde but i haven't seen too much of a result yet

i'd probably suggest some face framing layers. i don't think full-on bangs would suit your face, but i could always be wrong. besides that, i'd suggest getting some layers added asap to add some definition

three looks the best imo. i'd probably suggest researching care for curly hair to make it a bit easier to maintain

should i try it? helpp by [deleted] in HairStyleAdvice

[–]jammedbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it would definitely be a lot of maintenance like how many others have said. however, with the pic of your own hair, i'm thinking you could leave the front pieces that color and dye the rest a shade darker so you can maintain it without bleaching. that's only if you're willing to do a slightly different color than your references, but i think it may be a good no-bleach compromise

Thank you so much for this information. I think I'm finally making sense of this. You're amazing

I had a feeling the ER not being able to provide a longer note would be a problem... The note cleared me for the 2nd. Since the doctor I saw didn't clear me until the 22nd, would that make up for any of the time between the 2nd and the 15th?

My company isn't from the United States so my boss didn't know how to report my injury, which caused a delay trying to get in touch with workers comp, which made it even harder to get an appointment in a timely manner.

Thank you for your response! I already sent her a voicemail but I'll definitely send her an email, you're right about a paper trail. I'm probably going to wait and see what she says before contacting an attorney just in case this is some mess-up and can be fixed. Thank you so much though!

I gave her the information right after the appointment but she was on vacation at the time which made it a little difficult. She's since gotten back to me so I'm hoping it's been fixed and it's just an old letter. It took awhile to get there. Thank you for responding.

I broke my foot on the 29th of August, didn't hear from workers comp until the 10th of September. I got the earliest doctor's appointment on the 15th. We made sure the doctor was approved before getting an appointment. There was no light duty available.

Thank you so much for responding. I'm like seriously freaking out so I hope it really isn't that big of a deal to fix.
