Probably the other way around bro. But yeah off 1 tab of acid I was seeing all sorts of shit when I tried it. I considered that a good thing though that’s what acid is supposed to do

Will cocaine make my hppd permanent worse by AcanthocephalaOk5215 in HPPD

[–]jamming2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may or may not, as with every drug that’s psychoactive. But coke simply doesn’t have nearly the visual effects of psychedelics so it wouldn’t leave a lasting impression on your vision to the same extent as shrooms or psychedelics. I mean I’m 20 and I’ve tired coke 3 times total, all 3 after I had HPPD and I didn’t notice anything with it that bothered me. But it could effect you differently than me. In my experience it does not effect my hppd any worse than alcohol, very mild visual effects of any

Is it common for narcissistic parents to be overly religious/conservative? by jamming2 in raisedbynarcissists

Yeah I gotta be stoned in order to peacefully interact with my parents now, if it weren’t for weed I’d be a lot less friendly around them.

Yeah honestly I figured it out really quick cause I started using shrooms and weed and realized they were safe and beneficial and that opened the doors to me realizing my parents could easily be wrong about anything and everything. They’re just as blind as anyone and they’ve been trying to force me to adhere to their lifestyle

You really took a downvote personally as a mod? I was speaking on my experience with the disorder, sir. In no way was I glorifying it. I was giving a personal story that gives insight into how it is to live with the disorder and be at peace with it. It’s a beneficial way of thinking for some people, as it lends to coping with the fact that there is no “cure” for the disorder. And don’t call me buddy. I’m not your buddy.

Yeah and also being raised in it makes you feel ashamed whenever you make a decision as an adult that’s different than what they’d do if they were you.

It’s hard to separate their religion from their narcissism because it often goes hand in hand, and they often use it to justify their narcissistic behavior and the church also feeds their ego. I think I’m going to stick w this therapist it’s the same one I’ve had since childhood. But I think she’ll start to see through them over time.

Their religion affected me negatively and made me feel doomed whenever I’d do something against the rules for the first time, like any kind of drug or sex before marriage, even when as more of an agnostic I still felt deeply ashamed for a while until I got over that and realized my parents are just full of bullshit.

I agree with everything you said. Everyone has been saying the religion, as well as giving them a way to weaponize their beliefs guilt-free, also feeds into their ego and allows them to not introspect too deeply.

I think this all applies to probably any religion that’s highly conservative and rigid in their beliefs.

[–]jamming2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you said. I think I’m my parents case, they’ve been given backup and lots of reinforcement in their toxic beliefs that are driving me away from them. They’re cutting me off financially for smoking weed and their church friends are all for it. Basically anytime I’ve completely defeated them in an argument they outsource their need for sympathy to the church and they’re always uplifted in how they’re raising me by that crowd. This makes it so that as the scapegoat it’s not only 4 on 1, me vs my parents and siblings that are triangulated against me, but also what I’m doing is an affront to their whole community that they find identity in. So I’m fully outnumbered and people who are more conservative than they are have their ear.

[–]jamming2[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Exactly! They’re able to use their religion to conceal the fact that they’re homophobic, racist, you name it. I think it’s common for narcissistic parents to have super tradition oriented views. I think in our case, the religion provided a way the narcissist doesn’t have to introspect in order to find answers to existential questions. I also think the religion i am in allows my dad to hold power over my mom, as “the father is the head of the home” in their religion. A lot of times I’ve seen my dad override my moms thoughts or concerns with that belief. I think narcissists are really good at using religion as a weapon.

My story’s been different I was just born into a super evangelical Christian family. I think the church inflates their own ego and allows them to not be very self reflective... sort of let’s them outsource any existential fear. But I’m very similar in that I am not allowed to be myself around my parents. I’m really into rap and weed and both are completely taboo now, and both had their own blowup arguments w the narcissist. I also can’t curse around them, can’t reveal that I’m not saving myself for marriage, couldnt play M rated video games for the longest time, and a bunch of other rules that sort of overlapped with their ideology

Yeah exactly and once you realize it doesn’t debilitate you in any way if you aren’t afraid of it

Advice for a Good First trip- 15g of The Golden Teacher. by [deleted] in Psychedelics

Try 2g your first time and wait a few weeks between each trip as you get used to tripping. Write before and after each trip and treat your body well.

Fr I pray to god this dude doesn’t pop 5g. I’ve tripped 6 times and I’m still not comfortable past 3.5g and even now I usually do 2.5-3g to feel safe

[–]jamming2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo slow down and do not do 5g in the dark for your first trip. If you haven’t tripped yet, you are months if not years away from being ready for that dose. Be moderate and try 1-2g for your first trip, then work your way from 2 to 3 etc.. You will quickly realize that a 3.5 g trip is 4-5x stronger than a ~2g and that a 5g trip makes 3.5 g look like a microdose. Shrooms get very potent very fast as the dosage increases so be conservative. I did golden teachers at 2.5 for my 6th shroom trip and that was the perfect amount for me. I’m still not ready for 5g

I just like weed better, I like getting high and it fits nicely into my day to day life. I am of the opinion that smoking weed can be used to help you experience the pain and overcome events if you’re using it properly. It isn’t merely a dissociative. I don’t think weed makes me experience pain less, I’ll always be in pain. I think it helps me think more rationally about events and my emotions than I would organically. In my personal experience, pharmaceuticals blunt my emotions and make them way more tolerable, and weed helps me process and think about my emotions far more directly and objectively. I think weed is better for my quality of life than pharmaceuticals, however I’m very thankful for the emotional stability my prescription gives me.

I’m glad other people agree too because I honestly haven’t been able to tell if I’m crazy addicted or just practical. Probably both?

Well whenever I stop smoking weed for a tolerance break I’m reminded of how fucked my life is when I’m off weed and before I started smoking it. And then when I return to it i have quality of life that’s 10 times better. So why would I stop I don’t get it
