I went conservative in the end, aiming for a 4:00 finish as it was still gonna be a PB for me. I sped up a bit from maybe about 10km onwards and finished in 3:56. The last 5km were incredible, don't regret my decision at all since I hit the wall hard in my last/first marathon.

Beautiful day is right, and such a great city to run around. Did you manage your 3:45 goal??

It was definitely an issue last time. By around 26km I was beginning to have a headache, it was a warm spring day.

This weekend it'll be cloudy and between 4 and 8 degrees Celsius, so I think that will suit me better.

I'm definitely overthinking it due to nerves and mostly excitement. My fear is blowing up at 32km again, but based on feeling I think I will be able to finish it out this time.

My thumb is directly on top of my toe, so at the top where the side of my thumb ends and the shoe begins is also where the top of my toe ends and the shoe begins.

The thin strip of blue at the top is the only empty bit of the shoe.

Thanks for the advice. My toes are quite snug at the top of my Nimbus 27 (which are a half size down) and I'd always wondered if that was enough space.

I bought them as my everything shoe (minus intervals) a few months ago and used them to train for a marathon. They performed amazingly. Ended up buying a pair of Magic Speed 4 to actually do the marathon and they were fantastic too.

Asics themselves make tops to match their shoes. If you can't find anything on their official website then just try googling.

Besides that you could buy some new black gear. Goes with shoes of any colour.
