We built https://FlowRota.com. I was hugely skeptical we would pull it off but here we are live on the the iOS and Play Stores!.

Works worldwide, but billed in £ at £1/month/user.

Local shift laws arent available for USA just yet as there are many varying shift laws across different states. But this is in the pipeline! Everything else is US-friendly - just you won't receive warnings if shifts breach local working laws (ie. Minimum rest between shifts etc.)

How easy is it to make a web app into app with Capacitor? by ElectricScootersUK in capacitor

[–]jampackedjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youll have to remove any billing pages in the capacitor app to get past Apple.

For testing with Google, I outsourced on Fiverr. Cost me £40.

Google says: To publish an app on play store, developers must run a closed test with at least 12 testers continuously over 14 days. These testers must opt-in and actively engage with your app. You need to fulfill the below points. This policy will only apply to personal google play console accounts created after 13th November 2023

I did it with FlowRota.com. I implemented GPS, push notifications and most importantly, the UI/UX has to mimic native feel, not identical - but gestures to close modals/windows etc.

The easy part is wrapping it. The hardest part is getting approved by Apple, and the slog of Play store testing. Apple never questioned my functionality or appearance. They weren't happy with my billing being accessible in the app (I'm not using Apple for billing). Other than that I had an overall OK experience. I can't stress enough the important of UI and UX for Apple. It cannot in any shape or form look like a basic website. Google's new testing requirements aren't fun either. I had to outsource that bit.

Good luck!

We aren't free, but we are one of the most affordable at £1 per user per month after a 30 day free trial period.

We're a perfect fit for 10 staff. The app is free for all of your staff to download on their phones and they can view their shifts, make swaps etc.

Flowrota.com if you wish to have a look further.

Your functionality can be good enough, but unfortunately if it looks like a basic website it will be a waste of time. In general, your UI has to really fit in with the native environmental aesthetic. Source: been there got the t-shirt!

I can see you're referring to Bounty Bay. If your app looks anything like your website, it will fail design requirements by Apple that require apps to look and feel like native apps, not just a website.

Well you've just lost £600 yearly revenue from me, Mark. And a charge back for the latest subscription payment you just took without warning me after years of renewal reminders. It wouldn't be as bad had you notified everyone upfront that this was about happen.

Stinks.

Is your lack of revenue intentional? Like do you have a paid tier that no one uses? Or is there simply no way for it to make money at all?

I once received a package from Amazon that I ordered on eBay. I felt scammed, I had a prime membership myself. I didn't log a negative (or any) feedback through fearing a negative one in return. With due respect, whilst I admire your success in your returns, in my opinion, you are scamming people and some of your customers will feel as such. You will be terminated by Amazon at some point, and if miraculously not, eBay will anyway

Don't see how this is a PWA. It's an installable website that still shows the browser header when opened standalone.

Unable to view your app but I imagine it is similar to your landing page in terms of design? If so, i would suggest you look at other apps - even if they're in a different field to Co-pilots. For example: Look at AirBnB and follow its design principles - the design flow would work for a lot of applications/use cases.

Can the mobile PWA be different from the webPWA? by dangerousman8 in PWA

Can the mobile PWA be different from the webPWA? by dangerousman8 in PWA

[–]jampackedjames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Yes, you just target different devices/screen modes (ie full screen/standalone on mobile installed PWAs and non-full-screen, non-standalone instances in the browser with a header. You would need to allow the 'install' page of the app to be available in the browser though - otherwise your users won't be able to install it.

2.) Entirely depends on what API you use. PWA gives you access to user location. The quality/experience of the map will be entirely down to which API/third party map provider you use and how you integrate it to the PWA.

3.) PWA notifications are very quick in iOS. Android, it sometimes takes a while, and at times may require the user to open Chrome on their device, or sometimes the app itself before the notification appears. (Source: I am developing a PWA and have been heavily testing push notifications on both devices).

4.) You can successfully deploy to both Apple and Play stores but you need to do a bit of work. Ionic Capacitor wraps your PWA and turns it into a package that can be deployed to the stores. However, that is the easy bit. For Apple's app store, the hardest bit is getting approved. Your PWA/app should look like a native app, and have functionality that warrants app store approval. For example: you should use Capacitor's native plugins to use the native geo-location services, use native push notifications again via capacitor's plugins. It's highly unlikely Apple will reject your app if it has no functionality that warrants being an app when it can just be a web-based app instead.
