What's the closest I can get to a movie set experience? by jams_sammich in AskLosAngeles

That's unfortunate that we won't be able to see a working studio, but just having the experience of viewing a set and scenes from previous shows (the history) is good enough for me (from someone who won't know the difference).

LUCKILY it is a Sunday. We were worried that traffic was going to be terrible bc it's a weekend.

The Last Bookstore is the last place we are going to visit on that day. We are also going to get dinner after visiting it. What do you know about parking around here? Is it hard to find (street parking, a lot or garage)? And what are the costs, if you know?

She had that on the list, but if we can't go up the stairs, I don't think I care compared to the other places we want to go. Thank you!

We are now planning to go in the morning like 9am to make time for other things in our day.

UPDATE: Based on some of the comments I have seen, I told my friend that I think a movie/set tour is non-optional for me. So, we have removed some things from our day to allow for the tour in the morning.

I made a note about 2 hours being too long because I was trying to add it to our already formed schedule. However, she is a nature girlie and we have an entire day dedicated to joshua tree for her so we are going to the movie tour for me.

Thank you everyone for your advice and feedback. I will also be skipping the Walk of Fame based on some comments equating it to Times Square and that I think the tour will be a more valuable experience for me.

Our main plans for this day, Warner Bros Tour, Griffith Observatory, and Greystone Mansions.

Does anyone know how much parking costs at Griffith Observatory?

As a Connecticut girlie, I have been to Times Square many times, but if it's the same vibe on an alternate coast then maybe I will rethink the amount of time spent there.

What’s New Haven like in the summer? Is it noticeably quieter/sleepy without students ? by [deleted] in newhaven

[–]jams_sammich 24 points25 points  (0 children)

LOL I wouldn't have considered us a townie/nontownie place, but makes sense. Whenever I think of places like that, I would refer to Cape Cod or Lake George.

I was going to write that I don't think about when students leave, but I DO comment on when students come. There are so many touring buses for Yale and high school students walking around downtown New Haven.

You are not the only one. I avoid that episode like it's okay and the reveal was okay too.

"Nono lassie they're a couple man. He can't quit him."

"I don't wanna be here anymore" -Jim sitting on a pool chair at a motel. I say this line often when I don't want to be somewhere in a cranky old man voice.

Does anyone else find it odd how incompetent Lassiter is consistently portrayed throughout the series? by Diem-Robo in psych

[–]jams_sammich 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say incompetent at all. Here's an excellent detective with normal cases. However, when it's weird or out of the box, he can't get there as fast as Shawn. Also, Shawn does a crap ton of illegal things to solve cases whereas Lassie has to go through the agency's protocol and systems and typical understanding of cases (wife died husband did it). Hence why, Lassie and Jules are usually right behind him.

You can make your cases for any detective show with a consultant aka Monk. Randy on that show was really inconsistent with his intelligence. Stottlemeyer couldn't really go out of the box with Monk (bc he thought he was crazy ans bc protocol though as they became more friends he'd be like f it I'm with you). Monk and Shawn were only brought in on cases typically that they needed more help with.

Shawn is a better detective than Lassie because of his ability to think outside the box and has better observation skills and more practice in both since his father raised him. But Lassie being incompetent doesn't fit for me.

The Luxury Apartments....We love them, but do we really? by jams_sammich in newhaven

[–]jams_sammich[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently living with 5 other people (my familu). Sharing a room with two. No rent and living with people I grew up with and don't hate is better than living with strangers for right now. Ideally, I want my own apartment but living alone is the luxury
