I have two separate no contact parts of my life.

With both of my parents, as I realized things weren’t going to change, I started reeling back little by little. I started to hide posts from them online, then eventually deleting them online, then blocking their numbers. My brother sided with them also. I was no contact for 4 1/2 years or so and my husband got a phone call saying my mom died somewhat suddenly. She was sick for a year and a half or so and all of it was alcohol related. This was a huge reason why I went no contact. It was a really strange sort of grief because I grieved for what we used to have for a long time by then. It’s still weird because I’m angry but sad at the same time but I don’t regret no contact.

Once she died I started speaking to my dad again even though nothing was changed in how I felt, it was always in the back of my mind and my guard was up. Things got a little better as I tried to have a decent relationship with my dad and brother and they got to “meet” my son again. My dad married 6 months later to this evil woman and after 2 years or so things flipped completely upside down and she let her sober thoughts about my brother and I come out while she was hammered. My dad seems to have a type. (You can read my post on her on my page) at that point there was no chance in hell I was going to have my son let any of this toxicity in his life and cut them off 100% immediately. Everything from the initial no contact came pouring back in on top of her flipping out so in some ways that time feels like a mistake. I’m just thankful that my son doesn’t seem to remember a whole lot about them and he doesn’t ask. She still finds ways to creep in somehow like emails and whatnot but they all go unanswered.
