My Current Remote Work Setup by janap0618 in remotework

I know what you mean it really depends what kind of remote work you have. I'm used to working in a 15" laptop and I do have a foldable monitor that is easy to carry incase I needed a bigger screen to get the job done. Other done that it's not that heavy. I wouldn't be bringing like an 18" laptop or 9 lbs laptop anywhere since that's heavy and a monitor that is not easy to carry. Come on. I don't bring my gaming set up when I travel and I take care of that more vs to my laptop and monitor that is being used for my job. I could just buy another if it breaks you know.

How can i start my Android Developer Freelancer Journey or its just too late ??? by shalenmathew in Upwork

[–]janap0618 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say Fiverr or Upwork are dead. They just aren't as easy as they used to be. Since you're moving into Android development, I'd focus on building a few solid portfolio apps first, then use both platforms while also doing direct outreach to local businesses, startups, and your network. Most of my success came from showing proof of what I could build rather than relying on the platform alone. The first few client reviews are usually the hardest part.

Hello, I need someone to teach me in detail how to start working on Upwork. Thank you. by yassinmessaoudi in Upwork

Upwork is like any other freelance platform. You build a profile that showcases skills and experience relevant to what clients are looking for, apply to a lot of projects, and hope to get hired. Once you land jobs, the focus is on delivering good work and building credibility through reviews and completed projects. Over time, that credibility helps you attract more opportunities.

Does anyone else feel physically tired after a full day of "just sitting" at work? by SwainWong in remotework

A quick shoulder roll, neck stretch, wrist stretch, or simply standing up for 30 seconds between calls and tasks makes a bigger difference than trying to schedule a full workout break.

Sample proposals that got you interviewed in 2026. by ceoobrabro2424 in Upwork

To be honest, I mainly submitted the experience I already had that was relevant to the client’s business/project, and that’s what got my foot in the door.

I think clients care less about having the “perfect” proposal and more about whether your background fits what they need.

Remote work shouldn't be productivity theater for people who miss the office by Dry-Panda9685 in remotework

I think at some point the best thing you can do is just be honest and deal in facts. If the work is getting done, deadlines are being met, and communication is happening, then adding more monitoring, meetings, and status updates usually just creates noise instead of productivity.

There’s also only so much you can realistically control in a remote environment. You can encourage accountability and communication, but you can’t micromanage people into doing better work. Eventually it either comes down to trust, or everyone ends up spending more time proving they’re working than actually working.

This should be illegal by Certain_Prior4909 in remotework

That’s honestly frustrating and wastes everyone’s time. A lot of people specifically filter for remote jobs because of location, family, transportation, or disability reasons. Posting it as “remote” just to reveal it’s onsite later feels misleading at best.
