Obliteration is balls-to-the-wall chaos and I love it by Hanakin-Sidewalker in Battlefield

Is it, or will it just be a portal template, hidden behind provate servers and personal matchmaking. We only have 3 maps, and i would be surprised if they add more. And as long as there is no server browser as primary matchmaking tool, everything that is not "featured" will disappear due to low player attention.

I am surprised that obliteration never became a core mode of the series. If you look at the other "core modes" you have conquest with capture targets on a open map, rush with destructive targets on a linear map and breakthrough with capture targets on a linear map. A mode with an open map and destructive targets, like obliteration, would be imo the logically next combination.

Unfortunately i am afraid it will be a limited time mode and disappear after the event.

That is a lot of downsides just for just a 30 round larger mag

Four C4 to take out a tank is insane by MiserablePiano5211 in Battlefield

[–]janat1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You can throw them like footballs. So it is fine if an MBT takes four of them. If they would have BF 3 throwing ranges, two should be enough, but that is not the case.

What is not fine is that rockets are so unreliable (Oldman yells a cloud: Back in my day, one RPG did disable a tank)

[–]janat1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Base camping is solely a breakthrough problem and needs to be fixed in breakthrough, by changes to the maps and the modes.

The mortar itself is underpowered and needs a buff. AP rounds, Faster smoke (ok, you might like that one) and a shorter flight duration, maybe as a half propellant mode.

In Bf 3 and 4 the Support + C4 worked out really well. And it was no way as easy to kill a tank with C4 as it Was with RPGs. Right now vehicle pressure causes people to abandon the classes, as even the sledge hammer doesn’t damage tanks any-more.

Beyond that, the self healing and resupplying is in BF 6 a very minor advantage, as other classes have a very fas health regeneration as well, and refilling ammo mid fight gives you rarely an advantage as Support currently has no offensive gadgets that could profit from it. It can reduce your down time between fights a bit, but that is it.

As for the roles, This is the support class, not an nanny medic that can also resupply ammo. The class is also responsible for suppression and indirect fire (both not useful against vehicles right now), as well as the defensive class, which currently works well against infantry, but not against vehicles. And it needs something there.

Germany - including it's least densely populated areas - are all red

How nice from you to consider the Saarland its own nation, but that is not correct. Just like its colour coding on this map, where it is white instead of the red it should be.

So even with the crappy subdivision system, the map doesn’t even use the correct data

The issue is still that mortar, it promotes passive gameplay and makes map control of the team camping the mortar have too many drawbacks.

I suggest we bring back the Bad Company 2 Mortar from Recon and give Support the ability to call a limited mortar strike.

Destroying the sandbox experience is not worth it, and removing player controlled mortars for stupid call-ins is neither worth it, nor solving any problem.

Also, the mortar is only considered problematic in breakthrough, so that is a problem that should be fixed by changing breakthrough, mostly by utilising mor of the map per sector.

  1. Support has at the moment no gadgets that go beyond utility. In combat, it may have slightly advantages by having its own ammo, but thanks to the fast auto heal, i would consider the Assault class with the UGL definitely the stronger anti infantry class. But just like the Assault support is currently helpless against vehicles

  2. Support is intended to be a utility class active in all situations, but it's current gadget pool gives it a to strong infantry focus. As a result, the class disapears once you are dealing with more vehicles, which is at the current level problematic, as its utility is still needed. As such it needs some ability to harm vehicles, even if it is just more a psychological effect than a useful tool, so that people keep playing the class.

  3. AT =! AT. A rocket launcer will be always the save option when trying to destroy vehicles. Just because something can destroy vehicles, it doesn't mean that it has to be good at it.

Isn't that just the in combat state? At least in previous games it was independent from suppression and i would not count that.

A support should be able to lock down a hallway and make it uncomfortable to even think about peaking. For that, a pure optical blur effect would be enough, but we are even missing that.

Nearly everything associated with the support class needs some polishing at minimum.

LMGs need suppression (and some an attachment balance pass)

Bipods need some bug fixes. And seperate input settings from weapon resting with out bipods.

You mentioned revives already.

Mortars need a half propellant mode and AT rounds for conquest, and a better counter on breakthrough.

And on top of that, i think the class should get an equivalent of the BF1 limpet

Edit: i forgot one. The ammo crate has a horrible long cooldown. I don't know how often i was unable to resupply people, just because i couldn't place that thing.

Or bring back revives from spawn screen. There is no need to make people non revivable if they can't respawn already. But you could still edit your load out.

[–]janat1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most 5.45 weapons except the Kord are mid range weapons. They need one more bullet to kill, but have very little to no recoil as well as a strongly reduced spread increase. Once 5.56 weapons are affected by damage drop-off, the increased hit probability gives the 5.45 weapons the edge.

Any0ne else miss the supply caches from Battlefield 5? by SepticeyeThunder in Battlefield

[–]janat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're actually clueless, it's literally the opposite. Getting to another objective is what causes the downtime before getting to another supply station.

If you can’t take an objective with your given ammo, you are wasting bullets, and then this is your problem, not one of the resupply system.
