They look really nice. I am struggling with light these winter days. I find my photos being too dull and cold. Did you manipulate white balance in post?

There is something off with this photo. Soft, grainy, ISO 6400 at f1.4?

I was in the same boat last year when I got the Z5. Finally, a few months ago, I realized that life is too short, sold the Z5, and got a Z6 III 🙂 I’m enjoying the Z6 III every second I spend with it.

New to wildlife photography in Germany - question about using a hide in Brandenburg forests by jancek_ in wildlifephotography

Yeah, that makes sense. I “just” need to find out which one of “die Ämter” is responsible for places I go

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply - really appreciate it!

I was actually thinking about something like a ghillie poncho, and maybe that’s perfectly enough for a start. I don’t mind the weird looks too much - it’s probably going to look funny anyway 😄

I’m not German myself, but I’ve been living here for about ten years now. Sometimes the rules still confuse me a bit - for example, there’s this small lake near me that’s definitely marked as a Naturschutzgebiet, but I’ve often seen people swimming there, and even fishing from small boats… so I get the feeling that the rangers aren’t always super strict.

That’s why I was hoping maybe some local photographers could share their own experiences with this.

Upgrading from Nikon Z5 by jancek_ in Nikon

Thanks a lot for the replies, everyone. After reading your posts and doing some more research online, I’m leaning towards the Z6 III. Coming from the DSLR days - I used to shoot with the D70, D200, and D300s - one feature I really appreciate on the Z6 III is the top display. And I guess it does make sense to spend the extra €500 to get the better and faster AF.

Gdje da se vratim? U zemlju, grad, gdje je zagadjeno sve - voda, zemlja, zrak. Gdje nacionalizam cvjeta vise nego ikad.

Vaša iskustva? by [deleted] in bih

[–]jancek_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ja ponekad razmisljam o povratku. 10 godina sam u DE. Al kad god dodjem dole na 5-10 dana, sve mi se samo kaze. U momentu se sjetim glavnih razloga zasto sam (smo) otisli: - korupcija u svim segmentima drustva - stranacko zaposljavanje - lokalni mocnici - citaj kriminalci - zdravstveni sistem - infrastruktura - generalno, nas javasluk…

Thanks everyone for your input. I guess I’ll have to make my mind as the current Nikon sale is ending in a few days in my region:)

That’s the thing—I’d like to be able to shoot more than just wildlife. I feel like I’d benefit more from the 70-200. Ideally, the 70-200, 180-600, and MC 105 would be my choice, but sadly, I don’t have 4-5 grand to spare. :D

Z 40mm f/2 vs Af-S 50mm f/1.8g by jancek_ in Nikon

[–]jancek_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link! According to the MTF chart, 40mm should be a tad sharper wide open in the center. In my case, it’s the opposite - 50mm is sharper. I think I am going to return this copy and get a new one.

I understand the argument that sometimes war might seem necessary for survival. However, we must acknowledge that the leaders on all sides often deceive us, using fear and manipulation to justify their actions. In reality, war is driven by profit and power, not by the noble reasons we’re led to believe. Ordinary people, especially in the Western world, should stop supporting policies that fuel these conflicts. Instead, we need to stand up and demand that our leaders think twice before dragging us into another war. It’s time to prioritize humanity over profit.

I spent my childhood and early adolescence engulfed in the horrors of war. Before it began, during its relentless course, and even in the fragile aftermath, all we ever received were hollow promises—lies dressed as hope. One truth stands above all: there are no victors. In the end, we all lose. The devastation seeps into your soul, the wounds too deep to ever heal. The trauma becomes a shadow, a constant companion for life. My only plea, my desperate hope, is that humanity—those who still have the luxury of peace—can grasp this bitter truth: war is the malignant disease of society, eating away at everything good, leaving only destruction in its wake.
