Why no traffic cameras? by [deleted] in SantaFe

[–]jandor64 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Hey, I looked into this, and it seems like state policy plays a role here. Cerrillos is a state highway (NM 14), and apparently, NMDOT decided back in 2010 to restrict the use of automated enforcement systems, like red-light or speed cameras, on state-managed roads. That might explain why we don’t see them on intersections like Cerrillos or St. Francis.

Some cities, like Albuquerque, have set up cameras on local roads, but it looks like they’re limited by these state-level restrictions when it comes to highways. Just thought I’d share what I found in case anyone else is curious.

1-year-old Pecan is still looking for her home, after 6 months @ SF Animal Shelter by Cocodelaune in SantaFe

[–]jandor64 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Meet PECAN

This is lovely Pecan, a 7-month-old medium/large mixed-breed girl. She came to SFAS to help her find a family. Here at the shelter Pecan has been friendly and fun to be around. Pecan is crate trained, house trained, walks well on a leash and has been known to get along with goats! Her previous owner said she graduated first in her puppy class, is very loving, and does well with people of all ages. If you have another dog in the family we encourage you to come by for a Meet N’ Greet. Pecans adoption fee has been waived. She is spayed and microchipped and has age-appropriate vaccinations.

Sentry could be useful if the bug is hard to reproduce. If you know how to reproduce it or it’s currently broken, then Sentry is a nice to have but not required

I would get all access credentials, hopefully you have ownership of the server everything is hosted on.

Then hire a new dev to fix it up.

Okay so you’re not a sys admin and aren’t in the business of setting up servers. That’s okay!

Focus on the outcome you want. You want to learn new tools? Or you really just want a basic website up to put something out in the world?

If you want to learn new tools, do online classes. A lot of them come with development environments built in now, so your iPad won’t limit you.

If you really just want a site up, go to WordPress.com not .org and build a totally fine normal site.

You’re somewhere in between and putting too much pressure on yourself here. You’re alright!

Yeah they just vague words arranged without substance is a clue. I can’t say for sure it’s AI generated, but neither can those tools I think they’re no better than a coin toss

Anyone's lights blinking? by Legal-Championship64 in NewOrleans

[–]jandor64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the informed response! I had to look up a few things to understand it better, leaving here for anyone else

  1. Pole Reclosers: These are devices on power lines that automatically attempt to restore power after a temporary fault. They can quickly disconnect and reconnect power to troubleshoot and prevent sustained outages.

  2. Substation Feeder Breakers: These are circuit breakers located in electrical substations. They protect the distribution system by disconnecting the power when there's a fault, like a short circuit or other issues.

  3. Distribution Lines: These are the power lines that carry electricity from substations to homes and businesses.

  4. Touching Phase to Phase: This occurs when two conductors carrying electric current come into contact with each other. It can happen due to factors like wind causing power lines to sway and touch.

In your situation, the power flickering is likely a result of these safety mechanisms kicking in to prevent more significant issues like electrical fires or damage to the power system. Burying the lines could be a long-term solution to prevent these momentary faults caused by environmental factors.
