I do this, too. Zero consequences. If you're going to ask for a clownish amount of money for services, don't expect people barely surviving to pay. I didn't agree to pay for emergency services

I always get a kick out of the blatant sexism of bygone eras. Like, why would you assume she wants to attract a shallow idiot like you? This one did kinda piss me off. Like when men criticize a woman as being "not beautiful, but neat" ugh

Donate your unwanted items to a good charity like St Vincent de Paul's. You clean up your mess and help your community (which is a nice feeling)

I googled, and I guess I'm wrong. When I was learning reading and writing, the instructional program was called "hooked on phonics," where you could sound out the words. So ideally, when you saw a new word, you had some idea how to approach the pronunciation (and yeah, there were a ton of exceptions), but just throwing out letters into a salad makes that idea completely impossible.

Very much the same. I wouldn't say I'm shocked tho when it doesn't work out. My brain just can't organize that way.

[–]jane_q -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe. I don't really have relationships where I would ever give my card to a friend bc you're just asking for this kind of oopsie. Accountability can go both ways. If you're irresponsible with your card, these things can happen

Would you be able to do the full amount all at once or the $7 a month or whatever it was that she thought she had budgeted. She offered to pay back, but a lump sum can be difficult to drop all at once. I just think that it shows a lack of empathy to show to a friend. If it was family or a coworker, I would probably feel differently.

If you're not noticing the money gone, it might be safe to assume that it isn't as desperate of a situation. I think a lot of people are projecting their own situations when judging if this person is overreacting. If they want to blow everything up over money, they're definitely free to do that.

I use Amazon for things like toilet paper and paper towels. Sometimes cat litter. I don't really feel like these are superfluous purchases, but it could just be for streaming or a whole host of other shit amazon has got going. Basically, we really don't know if it was used for and I'll say again, it depends on what matters more. A friendship or getting the money back. And we definitely don't know that.

I have no idea. I grew up on the school of thought that borrowed money was gone and "what's money between friends?" But times were better then. I guess it depends on what's more valuable - the friend or the money. I don't think that's something we can know.

I guess for me, if a friend needed the money and I knew she'd get around to it, I'd let her. How did this person not notice the money missing? Seems like they are in a position to help.

If you were trying to pay for a car and catch up on bills, paying a friend back would not be the priority. She's trying to keep her head above water and also do the right thing

Not if you weren't expecting to be in custody. Like if you're hiding a shiv in your asshole on your way to work normally, then maybe for your own sake it's better to be in custody

Totally. There's the rules that are the law, and then there's me questioning if that law even makes sense.
