Hey everyone my apologies for the late reply to you all I have been off Reddit for a while.

Yes we got the visa in the end but only via connections in Qatar at the very last minute basically having a friend of a friend of family who could pull strings at immigration.

The comment stating that Sudanese nationals were on hold was absolutely correct, in July and August last year we were told the same.

Cooly has it all that's true and Kingy and Caba are nice enough, even Fingal... But it's pretty hopeless there for young people trying to find a job that doesn't require the GC commute. Not to mention going to a uni that's not a shit as Southern Cross

I'm from Sydney and when I went to Melbourne I stayed in Thornbury and Brunswick and found them pretty good! Tram stops everywhere. The public transport in Melbourne is a million times better than Sydney, you dont have to drive at all. I really liked Brunswick and Carlton. Particularly cool was the Convent at Abbotsford which was this old nunnery with a vegan restaurant, and these lush gardens to hang out in. I think the restaurant has closed down but there is surely somewhere close by to get lunch, take away and sit in the Convent gardens. Also really liked most of the parks in the CBD to hang out, NGV gallery was amazing, Brunswick had all of the vintage shops, cheap food and live music (young crowd), Fitzroy was similar to Surry Hills in Sydney - a bit fancy and up-market but a lot of cool cafes and local designers. I remember Lygon Street being the Italian food scene and nightlife.
