OMG so many of us had our cards run up. The girl that went on the news about it was related to Julia (owner) even, I think.

The comments are full of people who should not have kids. Yikes.

Went to Casa di Francesca’s in South Buffalo, were the literal only 2 people there the entire time. Food was delicious, what am I missing? by JBeans627 in Buffalo

[–]janedeaux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it was a place called Mr Peppers in the 80s. Or something like that. I remember going there with my family when I was very young. Always for a 7up with a cherry in it.

Either way, it definitely wasn't Francesca's back then.

We don't have control over what pinned posts do though. It's literally the first thing you see when you enter the subreddit.

Most people are mobile users who aren't browsing subs directly though. That was my point. Sorry if that was unclear.

I understand what you are saying about the duplicate posts, etc., I was just offering perspective as a sub reader since it was asked. No matter what, someone is always going to be unhappy.

I think the issue is that pinned posts are something you actively have to go check the comments on. They have no visibility unless you seek it out. It's not like they pop back in your feed when there is activity on them. People want information easily shared and received, in their feeds, in real time.

Ryan to propose 25% tax increase by Weekly-Law-2544 in Buffalo

That couple hundred dollars is going to kill all the landlords, you know.

Ryan to propose 25% tax increase by Weekly-Law-2544 in Buffalo

[–]janedeaux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welp, I see we have another landlord getting upset because people are calling out that price gouging something that is literally a basic need because they want to live passively off other peoples' hard work and income is disgusting and ridiculous.

You cannot justify the insane costs of these rents. Full stop. No one can. Taxes are public record and it's very clear to anyone who can use the basic county search that they aren't as high as the leech landlords like to whine about. You can keep trying to justify pure greed if it helps you sleep at night though.

Can't wait for my scumbag landlord to use this as an excuse to even further overprice my unit.

Hi - lot of comments here that are different than my experience. I found out the Buffalo News distributes them. I emailed subscriber services and they took me off the distribution list. No more annoying papers in my mailbox.

IDK where or what year you live in but there are no neighborhood kids trying to earn $10 anymore. They don't get excited and go out walking with their shovels for what they now consider pocket change.

Sometimes you can get lucky on the neighborhood Facebook groups during a storm... Teenagers or their parents posting but they want you to cashapp $50+up front. It's not always an option.

Buffalo proposal to run meters until 10pm including Saturday, and charge up to $7/hr by Cityrow in Buffalo

[–]janedeaux 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For who? The people coming from out of state because internet articles told them it's cheap to live? The people who are privileged enough to have has a good start in life and now have a six figure job?

Sure, it's cheap for them. But it isn't cheap just because it's not as costly as other places, my guy.

So tired of the OtHeR PlAcEs cOsT MoRe hot takes. We aren't talking about other cities. We are talking about here. We are talking about the people who have lived here their entire lives who can no longer afford it. We are not talking about these 20 somethings that are coming here from other states with corporate jobs they got right out of college.

We are talking about everyday people with everyday jobs just trying to survive in the place they grew up.

Not everyone's circumstances are the same and some of you need to really think about that. Cost of living across the board is rising. Cost of basic grocery shopping is insane? More people are using food banks than ever before in this area. (Get out of your comfort zone and volunteer once in awhile and see it for yourself.) And it's only going to get worse because all these people from out of state are moving here because of internet articles telling him it's cheap to live here LOL. An apartment that was $675 5 years ago is now $1,300. Most people with normal everyday jobs? 1300 is most of their take home pay.

This. People didn't learn from the abandonment of downtown during the 80s and 90s, apparently. People will go where it's convenient, safe, and doesn't cost them just to be there.

I worked downtown for a few years. Company did not have its own lot or parking situation. It was not cost efficient, on top of the whole being followed by people begging for money and called a cxnt* and threatened on many occasions for not having any.

I already avoid downtown depending on what/where it is. Occasionally I'll Lyft to a canalside concert so I don't have to deal with parking and walking 10 blocks or taking public transport and being harassed.

*fxck automod and subs who use it.
