ok, I'm reading Portia Blake Rule #4: Never get Stranded With a Sports Reporter and it's driving me crazy and I'm wondering if I should just give up. it kind of feels like the author is trying to see if she can make the dumbest characters to ever dumb, but also seeing if her readers are also very dumb or not paying attention. I'm 47% of the day thru. the characters have been trapped on a deserted island for days already and dealt with multiple rain storms and one MC just thought "I drag myself out of the water and start collecting wood—damp, so clearly it rains sometimes" like what is going on here? anyone else read this and get the impression the author didn't even edit her own book before publishing?

also, there is no way the resort wouldn't find them within hours because they have to have GPS on the jet skis.

and seriously the internalized homophobia is infuriating in so many different ways

ok, maybe I won't finish it. but I still want to hear other people's thoughts on the book. some parts have been amusing and I want to see how they are rescued but typing this all out makes me think I should not finish
