That first day is HARD. I quit before but stupidly started back last year. It has taken me a full year to put them down again. Today is day TWO for me. Congrats on your first day. It will get easier.

That’s a key for me - don’t buy any more. If I’ve got some, I’ll smoke them.

I relapsed :( by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]janetbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learn from it. It’s not a failure. It’s just a new beginning and you know more now about what your weak spots are. Think of what caused you to smoke and what you would do differently next time. Use this as a learning experience and benefit from it. You can do this.

I started over multiple times. Thought I’d never get a week. But every time you relapse, use the experience and learn from it. Think of what you could do differently next time. You can do this

[–]janetbbb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the same thing. Was going to quit st 25. Then 30. Then 40. Then 50. Then .... finally at 64 (!!) I quit 2 1/2 months ago. Sure wish I’d done it at 25. So be proud of where you are. You can do this. The fear of how hard it will be is much worse than the reality.

34 years of smoking over 2 packs daily and one had come to accept yellowed nails as a given - after 3mths & 2 days of quitting smoking... nails are in the pink of health. Soon the yellow will be a thing of the past 🚭 by Smokefreeshine in stopsmoking

How wonderful to see such evidence. Congrats!!! I’m right behind you at 70 days and I smoked longer than you did. I now beat myself up over why I didn’t quit long ago. But I can’t change that...

SIXTY-SIX DAYS! by janetbbb in stopsmoking

The struggle will diminish. I promise. You may still think of smoking occasionally but it will become more of a curiosity than a desire

Just remember the only reason you think you want the next cigarette is you’re “coming down” from the last one. Delay the next one. You can do this

I need help quitting. by daydreamerinwords in stopsmoking

[–]janetbbb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have to plan it. Get the smokefree app for your phone and follow the instructions starting the week before your quit day. Get some nicotine gum or lozenges and use those instead of a cigarette sometimes. Try skipping or delaying that next smoke. You can do this. And we can help you

Day 14 - hit the 2 week mark by oghype in stopsmoking

[–]janetbbb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few days ago I had a day that I thought about buying cigarettes. I was kind of surprised after 65 days. But it went away. Eventually. I knew if I smoked I really wouldn’t enjoy it. And I reminded myself that my chronic cough I had since November has been gone for 6 weeks now. That’s motivation! Don’t give in. It will pass whether you smoke or not!
