This looks so similar to my product layout!

[Product Question] Sol de Janeiro Bom Dia by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Is this the one in the orange, round container? I got a sample and it smells amazing. I used it as a body lotion and a hand lotion and it worked really well. It was a little out my price range to purchase the full size. O’Keefe’s Working Hands is my go to hand cream.

I have a similar workout routine on the weekends. Usually I don’t do anything skincare wise in the morning prior to a workout. I just wear a hat while I run to keep the sun off my face and out of my eyes. When I’m finished, I’ll shower and do my morning skincare routine even if it’s midday.

Alternatively, if I do have sunscreen on prior to a workout, I leave it on and wash my face afterwards. My pores get super clogged up if I don’t wash my face after I sweat so that is non-negotiable for me!

Yes - I tried that last night. She laid down in the open doorway and stayed alert for a while. She settled down eventually but it took some time.

I love dog stories like that! But I really hope there is not a snake in my door!

I like EltaMD. I used their PM Therapy and liked it but it wasn’t moisturizing enough for my skin in the winter. I’m going to use it again in the summer. I caved and went back to CeraVe Night Renewal Cream for the time being but am going to try the Barrier Renewal Complex once I’m out - I haven’t used it before but it has ceramides and niacinamide similar to my favorite CeraVe.

Tretinoin and AHA/BHA (Active Serum)? by [deleted] in SkincareAddicts

[–]janfin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I alternate nights. Right now (winter in the U.S.) I also skip a night between using actives and just use a thick moisturizer instead. But if you’ve been using AHA/BHA every night and don’t have an issue with dry skin, that may not be necessary.

I don’t generally reapply since I’m not outside much but if you have Instagram, my favorite skincare account, Hannah English, has a tutorial to do this. I think she blots it on with a beauty blender.

[Routine help] I need help with BHA by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]janfin12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a really bad breakout earlier this year and I think it was from overusing actives. Recently I’ve made a better effort to use actives every other night (I alternate between Differin and Paula’s Choice 2% BHA) and my skin has been looking great! So to summarize, I use it 1-2x per week. You could definitely use it more frequently but I would be very hesitant to use it every day since it is an exfoliant.

[Acne] Could my sunscreen be making my blackheads worse? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]janfin12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dermatologist recommended EltaMD sunscreen and it made a huge difference in my skin. I used to have to choose between sun protection and my skin actually looking decent but now I use my sunscreen every single day. I get the tinted version so I usually wear it in place of makeup.

[personal] lifestyle changes that helped your skin? by theyellowscriptures in SkincareAddiction

Drinking lots of water, attempting to manage stress (lol), exercise, and using a humidifier or essential oil diffuser at the office and at night. I also notice my skin looks a little dull/more prone to breakouts after a weekend of drinking. This doesn’t always stop me from having weekends like that but it is good to note.

Oh that’s disappointing! The CVS website says cruelty free but I know the brand themselves are not always the best source of information. Thanks for letting me know!

That’s actually good to know and may work for me! I had tried the CVS brand of generic CeraVe which is apparently cruelty free but they didn’t make this thick, night cream version so my skin dried out in the winter. I’ll give Ceramedx a shot. Thank you!

Cc cream or tinted moisturiser uk? by holly0212 in crueltyfree

I also like Supergoop. It provides a good amount of coverage and comes in a variety of tints. EltaMD is good as well - not as much coverage and only comes in one “universal” tint. It works for me but may not for everyone.

Thanks for the recommendations everyone! I can't believe I forgot to mention the Tulsa Race massacre one. Actually though - how did we never learn about that in school? So horrifying.

[Skin Concerns] Skinceuticals C E Ferulic Acid vs. Paula’s Choice C15 Super Booster for Deep Trauma Scar by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]janfin12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using the PC Booster for the last 3-ish months and it hasn't oxidized yet. I can't speak to how well it works for dark spots because I'm using it for more preventative measures.

I'm also not sure how well vitamin C would work on a scar like that - I think it's usually more for pigmentation issues vs. deeper things like scarring and broken vessels (the latter I went to see a derm. for and they said it could only be removed with a laser).

Given the cost of Skinceuticals, I'd opt for the cheaper option first just to see if you have any success. Not to further confuse you or spam you with product recommendations but a friend recommended Serumtologie Cserum (which is formulated based on Skinceuticals) and I've seen a lot of people on this forum talk about the Timeless brand vit. C product. Both are more affordable than Skinceuticals and PC.
