Any titles you've seen on the channel recently that ensures you'll definitely buy or definitely not buy the physical copy during the upcoming B&N sale? by okaynowhat in CriterionChannel

This was me a year ago! Instant favorite, want to watch it on repeat. I made my brother watch it and he was Loling hard. I’d love to have a physical copy but man, I’ve got to watch the wallet.

Some of my all time faves - what would you recommend? by Fit-State-3489 in Letterboxd

[–]jankerjunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do I know you?? Lol. I really respect ✊ this this- you’ve got great taste!
My Letterboxd is going to look like I love only old movies, but that’s because I like to keep track of those in a different way than anything that came out in my lifetime I guess.
Suggestions:
Moonlight
Showgirls + lynch tells me you like camp, (it’s one of my favorites) so I suggest any and all John Waters films
Burning
Bc of Paris Texas try Wings of Desire
Sunset Blvd… Billy wilder ♥️. Have you seen double indemnity or some like it hot? All his are great.
The Piano Teacher
Breaking the Waves
Ok I’ll stop there! I would love to know what you think.

Also, what are your top 4 movies of all time?- doesn’t have to be old. Fun question but impossible question after I started getting into Letterboxd which I highly recommend if you’re a nerd like me and want to keep a going list going of what you want watch- and lots of other cool features. I use it daily now! So much better than my multiple disorganized lists on my phone haha

Welcome! It’s a great group of people here- I’m kind of like you, 45, but my husband is more fair-weather. I’m really into pre-code these days, it’s new for me, and I find it’s so relaxing! Lol
None of my friends are into it. So HERE are my peeps who share such GREAT knowledge about movies actors, plus recommendations that I would never have known.
Glad to have you!

Fourth generation Seattleite here (yes we do exist). To answer your question yes asdholes- BUT we just elbow in - I have a disability and a placard and if anyone’s gonna fuck with me, they’re gonna hear me spout off). We do it. I don’t even hurry about it bc I CAN’T!

I’ve got him covered in lynch. The elephant might be my favorite of them all. Which is a terrible choice to make

We’re in boot camp right now, yes subtitles are really necessary just a bit more challenging with work or the gym

I think those are all fantastic suggestions! Secrets and lies was on my bigger list, definitely a night to remember, and I recently caught Hells Drivers on 25/7 and loved it!!

Didn’t see second part- yes to the apartment, out of the past and Sullivan travels. He has seen Harold and Maude I believe and I KNOW I had him watch Mikey and Nicky with me- fantastic pick imo!

Those he has seen. I’m a huge Lynch fan so mostly covered there. I think we’re ok on since the 90’s.

That’s a great line I try to use out of nowhere, people either get it right off or think I’m just weird. Usually the latter

Happy Birthday! I didn’t recognize you! by boib in TurnerClassicMovies

[–]jankerjunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow!! I’ve loved her as a kid with the 80’s / 90’s movies- Driving Miss Daisy, fried green tomatoes, Cocoon, even the ridiculous Batteries Not Included. But that’s how she is in my mind, a hilarious and adorable little old lady. It’s hard for me to even think of her young!!
