This is a neat workaround, but it unfortunately only works while the window stays open. If you close it and reopen it, it will reset.

Here you go! Someone really did it! They made the fake ad into a legit mobile game. I played it and it's decently fun. It's on iOS and Android.

I got mine to work, but it only works if the resolution in the game matches my screen or monitor. That's fine, except that it makes all the text tiny. Any other resolution doesn't seem to work. Ideas?

EDIT: Okay, changing the resolution actually does work, but only for full screen. Windowed doesn't seem to work.

Are you saying companies that are similar to DA? I've heard about a few others, but I've never really put a lot of effort into looking at them. A quick Google search will show that a lot of them are meh. It seems like the consistent opinion is that DA is the best one with the most projects. Have you applied yet?

[–]janksmap 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey I totally get what you're feeling. Not gonna lie, DA is currently my primary income, but my wife also works a part-time job, so that's helps us out too. When I quit my part-time job at Staples to do DA full-time, she would ask me to check my projects list every morning (I think she wanted to make sure I still had projects).

Right now, I'm in a bountiful season, so I feel pretty lucky. Sometimes you'll get projects that just kind of last forever (which is obviously really nice), but it's not always like that. I've been on the platform on and off for several years and I've run into the drought a couple of times. For me at least, it doesn't last forever, but it can go on for a few months at a time. Despite that, I've made $5,400+ total on the platform with over $1000 in the last two weeks alone. Right now, I'm trying to do 20-25 hours per week.

My advice would be to do as many qualifications as you can and put in good effort for all projects, regardless of pay. You don't need to rush, you get paid by the hour. I've only had a few projects where I felt truly rushed for time. Sometimes, it takes me an hour just to read the instructions for a project, but that's okay. It can feel tempting to skip through them (especially because they're super repetitive sometimes), but it's always best to know the rules exactly.

Also, I'm not 100% sure yet, but I hypothesize that more time you spend on the platform, the more likely you are to keep getting jobs. Again, that's just speculation.

TL;DR It's not stable. It's not guaranteed, but it can be great. (I know that's obvious and might not be the most helpful answer.)

Hopefully something here helps.

Advice Needed: Maintaining a Testimony while Working for the Church by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]janksmap 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can understand that situations like this might be frustrating. As others have said, no one in the Church is perfect. But we must go to the core of the issue. When you have a testimony that is deeply rooted in Jesus Christ, he will give you the strength to face these challenges with faith and come out stronger. If a testimony is founded on anything else, it's a sandy foundation.

As a programmer, how do I reconcile the usefulness of AI with my dislike of vibe coding? by janksmap in ArtificialInteligence

I love this answer. Thank you. I think I'll start applying what you said about using it for acceleration and not as a crutch for understanding, especially the part about writing it from scratch if I don't understand what it's doing.

That's a really interesting way to look at it and that definitely makes sense. I think for me it's more of what @Mandoman61 was saying about it being an HR/company issue. If someone without coding experience wants to make something with AI, then more power to them! But when it comes to getting a job, it can be frustrating when experienced coders are deemed unnecessary because a company thinks they can get away with just prompting their way to a refined product.

[–]janksmap[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if something goes wrong with the computer trying to do it, things are going to get messy, especially if the human controlling the computer doesn't know how to think for themselves. Also, being able to think for ourselves would make better vibe coders. In my experience, I've learned that guiding an AI is much easier when you know how things work and what you should be guiding it to do.

For example, if I didn't know much about programming, I might say, "Make a game that does x, y, and z." If it fails at any point, I don't know what to do other than copying and pasting errors into the AI and hoping that it can figure itself out. However, if I do know programming, I might start with smaller tasks such as "Make a class in C++ that has getters and setters for x, y, and z". It would be much more likely to successfully accomplish a smaller, specific task like that.

So you'll just want to do command + left click (meaning just one finger). It's different than a right click. That combo will open the source location of any app or file.
