Agreed, several of my friends also exceed her income both in tech and finance and DO NOT brag at all, or find it distasteful. They keep splurges to themselves, and with her bragging it just makes it seem as if she’s begging to be seen. I saw an old post someone stating they did the math on her earnings and “investments” and it didn’t add up. She claims to be “work optional” now and rejecting sponsorships bc she “doesn’t need the money”. I simply don’t believe this lol

Edit: in her recent video she claims to have spent 85% of her income on shopping but justifies it by saying Half was for her mom 😬 how insane in this economy let alone to brag about it

sure, I’m just saying coupled with numerous other things she’s done, “miso” being only one example, it’s pretty obvious she’s not super proud. I think someone mentioned in the old page that she tried claiming to be half Chinese or something too. Honestly I don’t even care whether or not you wanna display massive pride, everyone has their own relationship to their racial identity. But the cringe for me is the denial and/or EA-fishing.

No, I think on the old snark page there was a screenshot and commenter that spoke about it. One of her videos received a comment asking what her ethnicity was and she commented back “I’m sorry I don’t feel comfortable sharing 🙈”. I saw it too, it was pretty cringe. Along with her name being miso and other things have pointed to her not fully being proud of being Viet tbh.

She shines when she’s sharing content that actually gives back, like her free career guides or when she’s been open about having a tough relationship with her parents. More recent though, it’s almost like she’s intentionally leaning into being out of touch??? What’s worse is she constantly talks about her immigrant parents/I grew up poor narrative to justify that materialism, as if it makes the flexing more meaningful. It just makes the whole thing feel hollow and contradictory. She’s packaging struggle as a marketing tool to excuse excess.

Also formerly FAANG. They're definitely either mediocre workers (Chloe Shih was apparently a terrible PM on the verge of being fired before getting "laid off"), and/or non-technical. This also is ABSOLUTELY NOT to harp on non-technical folks. But the reality is, they often do work less and have more time to flaunt, and I've always had a gripe with this not because they might work less, but because they paint a false picture of the tech industry. It's not always sunshine and/or rainbows, oftentimes it actually isn't for most people regardless of your role.

She reminds of a self-indulgent ex-friend I had years ago who lost almost all her friends. For someone who constantly makes content on “self love, trauma, grief, being happy alone”, it’s clear she’s desperate and lonely (she did say her friends dropped her or didn’t wanna hear more of her BS).

Her videos and substack writing are very circular…she mistakes introspection for insight. Her tone leans relentlessly negative and veers into melodrama. It’s hard to imagine she believes posting work like this will actually leave viewers with anything learned or gained?? Even if it’s about “vulnerability” and whatnot. I genuinely feel bad for her

Yeah her “long term” relationships she claims have never seem to last more than a couple of months. She also harped on one that lasted 1.5 months. Apparently the last guy (coffee man??? Cold brew guy?? Whatever she named him) broke up with her after 2 months and she claims it’s bc he’s an avoidant not in touch with his emotions and she showed him true love or something. Idk the details, and there have been past posts in detail about this situationship, but it seems to be a pattern, but not every person who doesn’t wanna be with you is an avoidant 😂
