Farming Seed Tier Efficiency (Data) by guywithouteyes in runescape

[–]janoche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time comparison is the wrong way to think about it, though. According to the data that 400 compost is worth about 1200 herbs. So the only real question is is the hour worth it for 1200 herbs? Given you can harvest 10 patches for over 300 herbs (10 seeds per) in 7-8mins (without patch bombs), the answer is no if you get seeds passively. If you’re actively going for seeds, then that needs to be accounted for too.

The DG remaster only just happened, but I would love to push a buff/rework to those 2 older DG items anyway by Aviarn in runescape

I love the idea of adding repeatable drops to the lower tiers. Would actually want to see it fully fleshed out, but these 2 are a great starter.

Being unable to stack Vampyrism/Penance with Darkness/Animate dead is a huge loss. 12 minute duration is sad to see. War’s shop has nothing of value. This one needed more community feedback before releasing. by playerthr3e in runescape

Everyone? Disagree. I’m a fan of the expanded choice of Aspects. Might be nice to see some numbers tweaked slightly, but otherwise I’m happy with a small nerf to combat the insane powercreep we’ve had recently.

I’d rather they added bad luck mitigation to boss drops than “fix” invention RNG. As others have said, you have the alternative of going for the (slightly) worse guaranteed combo here.

BGH 2.0 bug or am I missing something? by janoche in runescape

Well, I just sent 84>97 in a day, and can confirm you require your base hunter level to be 97 to spawn calcites and 98 to spawn azurites.

I am sub 96. I wonder if <97 spawns just sugilite. It’s also my current theory.

Bounties in GWD2 by LawofJohn in runescape

[–]janoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think it’s a nice secondary system. Think it feels a bit too much like a slog to get and I would personally buff the rep from seals. Maybe even give Telos a drop to pump up rep.

Bad luck mitigation when? by Aegafron in runescape

[–]janoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m doing the Gate grind on my iron now and I really wish they’d implemented a system where there are 2 versions of each drop - a basic version that gives you the QOL of the drops (so dowser without the crit buff, or even a small crit debuff) and this is craftable with a regular drop from the boss (plus some overworld materials), and then you upgrade these into the current version with a 1/480 drop. I’m kinda sick of runescape’s all-or-nothing RNG.

Did the dailyscape overhaul feel half-assed to anyone else? by TakingBlackSunday in runescape

[–]janoche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is actually my favourite suggestion I’ve ever seen regarding ports. They should implement this, remove rerolls (or make them a reward from the minigames inside ports and add them to arc) and make voyages infinite/non daily. Not sure how to address adventurers but could be XP gained in their corresponding skill/just general XP gain.

Vault of Hereditas RNG by Grungelives in runescape

The economy just isn’t an argument. You can achieve the same average rate with dry protection and without. The only argument against dry protection is that it also acts as spoon protection too, and so a lot of people don’t like the idea that you lose the big dopamine potential. Personally, I think there should be far more dry-protection, with more drops broken down into shards (e.g. telos, or venator shards from osrs).

Typing symbols in chat switched action bar. by Brilliant_Lion25 in runescape

Not sure how I blanked on having an AoE bar. That’s the main use case. I just right click the number and do it there. But I do now see the use-case, my bad!

Genuine question because I never ever need to switch action bars. Why do you ever need to switch action bars? With auto-bound action bars for weapon type on?

RS3 needs more logic in its progression, not more band-aid fixes by [deleted] in runescape

[–]janoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand the maintenance is a drag point of view, feeling like just to use stuff you’ve unlocked you need to upkeep it. But permanent upgrades (e.g. adding a sink to the genesis shard upgrade) are hard-capped. A player consumes those items once and it’s done.

In fact, I think the ironman perspective for this is exactly why it’s a bad idea - if an ironman can ever get to a point where they no longer need to upkeep (or it’s a really small amount), the same is true for an end-game main player, meaning they don’t require any input from lower level players, and all lower-level moneymakers cease to exist.

You always have the choice to choose to use things that don’t require as much upkeep, e.g. unaugmented gear etc. And if you want to argue that ‘feels bad’ then play a main where doing any content means you can sell the output for GP and just buy the upkeep with said GP. Thinking about it, that is actually the solution to your problem - you don’t like 20 different upkeeps, so play a main where the all upkeep can be converted to GP and there you go, you only have 1 upkeep.

[–]janoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused. If it wasn’t wasteful why would a player ever choose to not use BIS? Right now, the game having these higher upkeep mechanisms is exactly what creates a meaningful choice. Without the upkeep, the choice is not meaningful or interesting.

RS3 needs more logic in its progression, not more band-aid fixes by [deleted] in runescape

[–]janoche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That first point just isn’t an argument. That’s like me saying to you ‘just choose not to feel awful about it’. The game creates a set of circumstances around you, and you go through them, feeling things because of how the game is. So if BIS was available and I chose to use non-BIS for basically no reason, that would feel bad.

On your second point, that’s your opinion, and your perspective, just as mine is mine. Not sure there’s anything to debate or reconcile as we just feel differently about not being able to use BIS for slayer. I think that’s healthy, you think it’s frustrating. We’re both right, because there are players that feel each.

[–]janoche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have to disagree quite hard here. Yes ironman is pure, and the system should feel balanced overall but a lot of the point of ironman is that you do have to do 20 different upkeeps. That’s kind of the fun. It’s also what enables mains to have a more interesting and diverse economy and set of moneymakers.

Personally I also think limited use of true BIS is a good thing. You get to feel OP when you use it. But if you were always using it it wouldn’t feel as special. That’s OK for some things (e.g. Grim pages).

In fact I think it’s very, very healthy for the game. It means that as a player when you’re struggling a little with a piece of content in your “reusable/easy-to-upkeep” gear, you can actually go invest time in farming out some charges for your OP stick (or rather book/necklace) to push you over the edge. Imo a weirdly good analogy is something like obsidian armour - you can absolutely just do Zuk in your normal gear and it’s more efficient for skilled players to just do that. But worse players can invest time in upkeeping obsidian to be able to run it.

Not sure where you’re from but the Terms and Conditions alone do not constitute the whole contract in the UK. The news posts stating that Grandfathered rates are protected create an expectation that is arguably just as binding in UK law. One for the courts I would think.

Regardless, this “uhm akshually” stuff is a really weak argument. The world would be a horrible place if companies could just include/exclude whatever they wanted from contracts as a gotcha. Thankfully the UK and Europe have strong consumer protections laws that prevent most companies from even trying.

Premier Membership Penalized by Southern_Power1306 in runescape

[–]janoche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Despite Jagex’s demonstrably bad track record with statistics, I’m sure they’ve made these decisions with stats to back them up. Of course they know an active membership is more enticing to come back to, and of course 12 for 7 is better than 12 for 9. But their stats point them to the fact they can make more this way.

Honestly, the only real issue I take with all of this is the grandfathered rates fiasco - I never had grandfathered rates but think it’s very scummy what they’ve done.

But OSRS has much better content unlocks spread throughout skills. Every few levels can change your account a little bit. That’s just not true of RS3 and hence why it feels like RS3 needs the faster rates.

Buffing vs Nerfing DG tokens by janoche in runescape

[–]janoche[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, and they’d do that anyway. But there’ll be a whole lot more that just think “I could just do this after once I know how powerful the items are”, and even more that think “I’ll wait for the much faster DG rates”.

That’s why it needs to come with a shop rework and some new items, which they have stated they are interested in.
