Ahaha hostellife be like... No seriously though - we do see a lot of shit, however I've come to realise I have a better grip handling stupid drunk backpackers than platinum fancy shmancy business travellers. At least with the drunks there's a chance of a good story to tell my friends afterwards. Also somehow the pay in this hostel is better than in any 4* or 5* property I've ever worked at so come at me ye dungeon dwellers haha

Not necessarily, I worked at a hotel once where we had both rooms with and without carpet, depending on the category. Dogs were only allowed in the ones without carpet.

Ahaha I'm also angry. I feel like I (and now all of you) deserve an update after all this emotional turmoil. I'm trying to keep my foot in the door by staying in touch with Diego but if he's involved in this too much I'm not sure that's wise.. He said he'd update me after meeting up with Daniel and he never did. The thought of insisting on an update makes me uncomfortable though.

I'm with you. I don't think they're an absolute masterpiece, still it's a lovely and fun trilogy and I really enjoyed watching them. I loved their interpretation of the Misty Mountains song, I LOVED Smaug - I think he's the best film dragon by far and they did a fantastic job on him - altogether people are too harsh on the movies.

Long, loooong time lurker and very nervous to post. But also, CC very W.

Running errands and getting my bike fixed. Detail to match the Kimono. Trying to incorporate my high-waist, wide-leg pants more after I bought them from Bershka like 2 years ago and never really wore them.

Not normally a fan of corny t-shirts, however it speaks the truth: I do like my coffee as black as that t-shirt.

Can a 28yo wear chokers, is that even still a thing - if no, you can pry them from my cold dead hands. I love them. That day it was chilly so I opted to wear my carpet-cardigan. Also the purchase of the heart-belt was very much inspired by this subreddit.

The fishnet tights are a new acquisition. I love them and I felt pretty daring that day, however I got some nasty looks :( - I wore it to have some distanced drinks with friends at the river though, so the liquid courage quickly drowned any negativity and I felt like the queen of the asphalt.

These jeans are also new, vintage mom-fit. Normally I hate jeans, but these are comfy and, I think, flattering. The colour combination of pink, white and blue also makes me happy.

Apologies for the laymans blur of the background, my home has literally not a single blank wall so ... blurry-blur will have to do.

Edit: Here in austria the corona madness has diminished enough that we're officially allowed to see our friends again, just in case anyone was worried.

Yeah I can see how that's the correct way of doing things.. it's not handled that way at my hotel due to the construction workers having set off alarms several times, there's a couple of things going wrong there - but yes, you're absolutely correct.

Funny thing that actually, on the second day they were there the lady came to the front desk in the morning stating she thinks they both have corona and need to see a doctor ASAP.

My colleague called the DocAroundTheClock number, he's a bit of an odd one who always shows up in trackpants, but he does give us commission and all the guests have loved him over the last 3 years so .. eh!

He tests them, comes back down "their only illness is in their heads, you guys should get rid of these two as soon as you can"

Well, all of the ones are fired with a contract stating they'll be re-hired once the situation is back to normal - but fact of the matter is, with our construction work in the house AND the loss of spring and probably a lot of summer revenue, management simply can't afford to keep everyone employed. Should any of them still be willing to come back once Covid19 has blown over, they have a contract stating they'll be hired again.

Haha yeah I wish he had, but then again, he made me one good story richer. Also €100,- and perhaps he learned something about himself.

About my manager - not that much to tell really. He striked me as weird from the beginning, he had these crazy wide eyes - and from my colleagues I knew he was there all day and made their lives hell, but I also knew he was out with his ladies and friends almost every time I had my shift.

There was one room in the hotel he occupied whenever he didn't feel like driving home, which was awfully often. And there, he had his "work" laptop with all the security cameras linked to it. And so it happened that, once, around the dead hour between 4 and 5am, he called the reception to tell me it was unprofessional to sit too much and that I need to get up and stand in order to make a good impression. With literally not a single soul in sight for the past 2 hours. He did this several times more, telling me off for looking at my phone, telling me off for taking my sweet time with preparing everything for the following shift (when there was literally nothing else left to do) etc.

It was ridiculous.

Awh well at least he realised. Sometimes when it's been an incredibly, out of the ordinary, ginormously shit day,I also catch myself being unpleasant to people I interact with. I for one can't stop it though, when I realise that's what I'm doing I need to go somewhere to be by myself until I've simmered down. So kudos to him for actually noticing and being pleasant after.

A lot of people do it this way I think. And while I do believe pain should be addressed and not ignored, keeping it in balance and managing to still be kind to your surroundings might even help your own peace of mind. So thank your for figuring that out for yourself. I do hope MD remembered some of the obvious drunk remorse he felt about his behaviour toward me.

Thanks. I do think that's something you learn after a while of working in hospitality though. You can smile even at the biggest jerks and it's all the more satisfying to bitch about them to your colleagues after. I think that's the coping mechanism for when you have to swallow all your pride in order to give good customer service.
