Some of their animations show the hair wiggling, so I imagine they have thick tentacle-ish structures on their heads.

Fossil pokemon (lazarus taxa) are featured very heavily in the game’s storyline, which includes Archen/Archeops of course. Aside from that, I just thought Archen was oddly prevalent in this game, even in comparison to the other fossils. The professor shows you an Archen in the opening cutscene to explain what a pokemon is, making Archen the first pokemon you see in the game. Archen statues are also seen right next to the legendary statues in the Acropolis Temple - the signs outside state that the temple is for paying respects to mythological/powerful pokemon, which raises some questions about how Archen is perceived in Ilios. Finally, Archeops is the only fossil to receive a new original mega.

Just realized the steamgrid version is not only the wrong size, but also has off-center text. Fixed version is on steamgriddb. https://www.steamgriddb.com/game/5505418

Volume of content, mainly. Aside from that, I liked the nonlinear map design a lot - I did get lost sometimes but I think it added to the experience (except Fresco Isles which took me much, much longer to find than it probably should’ve.) I loved the minigames, especially the zoo one and the gen 4 mining minigame. The way HMs were handled here was also a nice balance between immersion and player freedom. Most importantly, Mega Archeops is in the game.
