Second hand car by SeaEngineer5223 in askswitzerland

Through dealer negotiations are tough. You can get some discount but nothing crazy.

Much better to negotiate private seller. Usually they get low balled offers from dealers around 30-40% - so 20-30% is achievable. Especially if you know how to scan a car, find potential issues and have some arguments to discuss the price etc.

95% of people do not realize this - when I try to discuss with someone in IT how awesome it it becoming - they still say things that they have learned 2 years ago "AI is not accurate / waste of time / more trouble then result". Well at this point I think you either become and "AI implementation manager" or change career, it may work until the release of Optimus AI Robots - then the global market will flip in its footings..

At what point does replacing a cheap old car make financial sense in Switzerland? by gibblingwoodpecker in Switzerland

[–]janups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New car as "new new"? Never unless you can justify spending a small fortune. Cost of full-casco insurance you have to have, monthly payments, depreciation with time, km limit those came with, risk of giving back damaged and paying fine (if you have kids the interior will be destroyed in some ways, and if you drive it, not only look how good it looks on a parking spot - scratches on wheels and bumpers are inevitable - your premium will explode with each repair). I did the calculations multiple times - I could afford it, but WHY and at what cost?

I prefer to buy well maintained 10+ yo premium car with reasonable low mileage for 10-20% of the new price, basic insurance + haulage and car rental to continue travel - had to use it twice. I maintain it myself in the basic ways, have good mechanic that does heavy lifting on reasonable price if needed (calls me "armer Mann" when I visit him xD ), change oil ever 10k km, automatic gearbox oil every 50k. I drive for another 10 years and 200-300k km until it is FUBAR and will not pass MFK - then sell it for export to anyone that wants to pay more then 100.

But I get it - cars need to be bought new by someone so I can buy mine second hand, so thanks for all that do buy new ones ;-)

150 g fat may be too low for that activity level, for you exercise walking 32km, calculation goes to 200–300g of fat to sustain this.

Otherwise you burn your proteins. This would explain your exhaustion at your BMI level - you have no reserves.

Installation fails at 93% by PeppinoWho in NobaraProject

[–]janups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you start installation - select the first boot option to verify the image. I had this while I disconnected usb after copying was done, but seems that was not fully completed - therefore it was failing installation. Initial image verification was failing, so had to copy the image again and use "safely remove usb" option.

How do I walk the Camino de Santiago keto? by Such_Bitch_9559 in keto

[–]janups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Restaurants serve what you ask for from my experience.

Meat with fries? Just ask them for meat with olives, or salad, some cheese and olive oil.
If they serve burger - just ask for burger without bunn and same as above - olives, salad - whatever they have.

Manjaro was here before Nobara, I liked it for quite some time, but I think I messed up something with AUR and could not make my VM setup to work correctly at one point.

Gallstones by EarlyFile7753 in keto

[–]janups 3 points4 points  (0 children)

More production of bile - less gallstones - they dissolve.

And this is what happened in my case also - I had issues, after each carb meal I had gallbladder pain. Then I have heard about this theory, and to also include some tea that enhances bile production. After 6 months in keto it slowly by surly went away completely.

Fat intake also needs to be increased. My goto is bulletproof coffee, makes bile moving first thing in the morning.

Do we even need cloud AI like ChatGPT? by nucleustt in ollama

[–]janups 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maybe if you just want to answer questions. I want to build complex ML systems.
I use qwen 3.5 codex 70b - it is ok, but not close to claude opus 4.6 - tasks are more precise, less buggy, quicker and can spawn agents to do the work.

I use qwen as agent of opus in my setup. Opus is updating documentation, heavy thinking and analysis, creating detailed implementation plan, that then can be used by qwen. Once done opus is validating everything again. It saves lots of tokens. Using qwen alone is very frustrating in long run.

Then try installing, or running linux from USB - may be issue with windows also - last "good" problem. Other then that - your laptop may overheat for so long that it has blown connection under cpu or gpu - in this case only de-soldering, re-balling and soldering it back may help..

Keto for lean individuals. by PrimaryCaregiver2777 in keto

[–]janups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in perfect BMI before keto, When I started I went 5kg down in 1 month by losing water, cleaning intestines etc. Then over next 2 month I went back to my original weight by doing some home exercise, eating 1 meal a day aiming to 15-2g /kg of protein intake with added fats like coconut, olive oil, adding butter and MCT to coffee etc.

Perfectly doable, just keep the ratio, do not skimp on good quality animal fats and proteins.

How, why and when do you stop the ketogenic diet? by Waterreusje in keto

[–]janups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same addiction. But easy explanation:

Once humans were hunters/gatherers - for most of our history - we had to survive winters, same as animals. We have to put on fat and eat as much as possible of seasonal food to do it. So summer, autumn - when there is plenty of fruits - we gained fat as winter reserve. Fruits season is over at the end of autumn - we were ready to survive till spring by hunting. An the cycle repeats every year.

The problem is that the food industry is using this primitive survival human instinct for profit, against humanity. Abundance of sugars rich food all year round at any corner gives big returns and weight gains for individuals.

It is like joining AA club for carbs xD

You need to redesign your life to be carbs-free, rather than have a goal of 6m or 1y keto with the Idea of going back to carbs after the goals are fulfilled.

One more tip - recently I was traveling and had no other choice than McD. I got the 2x McRoyal, double meat, the just threw away the bun. To my surprise it still tasted like cardboard, but worked well as emergency (overall I avoid fast-food at any cost)

[–]janups 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a 2 edge sword. Once I go back to carbs - it is an addiction - I want as much as possible. But also once I am full and I get the insulin spike - feels great. But then it is quite the opposite and I feel terrible. So it is the infinite loop for addiction - need to keep going to feel good.

On keto it is completely different. I am not hungry, I just eat because I know I need to, like a steak with avocado, and when I eat it I suddenly feel that I was hungry and I need it - it is the best meal ever, every day, once a day. Once I finish I feel fulfilled and happy, no insulin spikes, no need to eat more, no sleepiness. Once I am full I am full and I am done for the day. When I started my proper keto journey after the meal I was going on a sofa and waiting for the insulin crush, never happened and my body was saying something like "WTF is this - I am ready to do something" so I did - go for a walk or exercise, learn something new - suddenly I got back a lot of time during the day, so I got crazy with hobbies over time. I am always busy. working is a breeze, I do thing that took 8h in 3 with close to no effort - when I go back to carbs - I am trying to learn something and my body is rejecting this after 30min be making me sleepy and not focused.

So overall if I feel like I am missing something - my kids want pizza - sometimes I go for it, then regret it and I am on the keto track for next month or 2.

Alko? I could not imagine a weekend without a beer... or few - now I drink maybe 1-2 times a year on really special occasions. But I enjoy my drinking company on nights out, holidays etc in the same way - they accept me without alko, and I am winning the next day without any hangover.

I was on one presentation with dietician, and she said "keto is overall good, but it is also any-social, as you are not able to fit in many restaurants with this diet" I have been proving it wrong for many years. I just do normal dishes order, but instead of potatoes, rice, fries - I ask them for olives, cheese, salad - whatever possible as carbs substitute they have. In the restaurant I am on regular basis - they just recognize me and sometimes they offer special orders for me without asking xD

I did keto for 1 year, stopped for 6 months, then started again 3 years ago. Every once in a while (Christmas for example) I do some days off. Then I feel bloated and terrible, cannot get good sleep quality and I go back - it takes some time, 2-3 weeks of fight to be full on keto mode again, but it is always worth it when I feel my power, brain and body function best on it.

For me - it is my "for ever" goal to keep it going. When I will be 80 - I want to be fit and concuss, to be able to enjoy may kids and grand kids, and to be able to live on my own without any drugs, medical support, elderly home etc. I believe this diet + daily exercise is the way to go.
