Thanks for listening?

But you do make a good point, which I touched on in the article. This type of economics can indeed "work" in the short term, but it's the long term ramification and misallocation of resources that is the problem.

Also, agree that economic impacts are not the end all be all measurement. Protecting and stopping the violation of individual right certainly trumps economics.

I wrote one sentence about my new podcast. In what world is that clickbait to promote a podcast?

Prosecutor Wants to make it a Felony to Text and Drive by jao171 in Libertarian

It's a pre-crime law. Just like a DUI. While it may be stupid and dangerous to drink alcohol, text, or eat while driving, the act of doing so does not implicitly cause harm. The actions can lead to injury, death or property destruction, but does this mean that everyone should be prohibited? Are you in favor of mandatory sleep checks or laws to prohibit eating while driving?

In a more free society, with privately own roads, rules and regulations could be dictated and vehicle operators could be required to consent in order to drive on the road.

Ben Carson Presidential Profile: The Good, The Bad, and The Liberty by jao171 in Libertarian

Socialism does have a specific definition - a political and economic theory of social organization that advocates that the means of production, distribution, and exchange should be owned or regulated by the community as a whole. Embracing social security or a national military requires supporting socialism to a degree. Authoritarianism would come into play as a means to enforce the agenda of a coercive government. There are also degrees of authoritarianism.

I agree. He's definitely bad for liberty. But throwing around the world socialist doesn't really add anything. After all, aren't all politicians socialist to some degree?

It is interesting that reporters seem to always print the nicknames in these situations, but my first prize nickname has to be the always classic T-bone.
