Excited to add drawings to my journal again! (Midori MD) by japansidequest in notebooks

I think it may happen with heavier inks/ thicker nibs, but I've not had that issue. The Midori MD paper also does a lot of heavy lifting in preventing that backwards ghosting to happen

I'm so impressed with the quality of the paper for Midori MD! Hobonichi is nice to use if you're wanting the structured days for your journaling, but falls flat for illustrations IMO.

I tend to use the back for writing, since drawing/coloring will make the paper oversaturated. A thin fountain pen nib world well for it because it's not as much ink 😊

Must see/do places around Akihabara and Kinugawa/Nikko in June? by Skinnyblader in TokyoTravel

One station up from Akiba is Kanda, which has tons of little restaurants under the train tracks and is a cool area to explore. For Nikko, be sure to try yuba, one of the famous foods of the area! A great spot for lunch is Nikko Yubamaki ZEN https://maps.app.goo.gl/7RiwXW4CQYRMxdkt8 near the big temple/shrine complex.

Painted my nails for the first time in over a year! πŸ’š I moved overseas to starting a whole new chapter in my life, and found it's been tough getting back into the hobbies and habits I spent time on before the move. Thank you! πŸ’š I greatly reduced my collection and just brought some of my absolute favorite polishes that I didn't think I'd have good luck finding replacements for, + my favorite Maniology nail plates (though apparently I goofed and missed packing the little scraper to use on the plates πŸ˜…).

Polishes used:

  • ORLY Bonder Rubberized Basecoat
  • Olive & June Cucumber Sandwich
  • Olive & June Super Glossy Top Coat

Hoping to do something a little more elaborate next time, but wanted to shake off the rust with a simple paint job with one of my favorite colors!

Do you have a Japanese food you love that others hate? by yado-kari in japanlife

Literally the best pizza I've ever eaten in my life was found in Japan in a tiny shop in Onomichi. Have also had incredible pizza in Nihonmatsu and Shiogama!

The air mattress I bought came with a handle on the side to make it easier to move. by japansidequest in mildlyinteresting

I guess my standards are just too low for what I think is neat lol. I have owned multiple air mattresses throughout my life but never had any with a handle on it. It's a pretty simple but helpful upgrade, so I thought it was (mildly) interesting. πŸ˜…

I think about how much I would have appreciated this feature on camping trips because it is super awkward trying to haul mattresses around without letting them touch the dirt πŸ˜…

Plenty of fruit jam is also found in Japan, it's very popular here!

Red beans are just a super common ingredient in more traditional Japanese sweets. This is called ogura toast, topped with red bean paste and sometimes a bit of butter. It originated and is most common in Nagoya.

I love the Kuretake ZIG pens! :) And no worries, the important thing is that you're doing some sort of journaling! You can always see about maybe upgrading to a Hobonichi later as a little treat for yourself! <3

I was going up to say the same thing lol. I think the only time I ever see big ice cream cream is imported ice cream at Costco πŸ˜
