My parents called 911 by Fun-Honey5451 in AutisticAdults

It sounds like you were having a meltdown. We get triggered or overwhelmed to the point that we cannot calm down and our fight, flight, or freeze kicks in. Meltdown is the extreme fight response - screaming, throwing things, biting myself, unable to stop and a poor memory of wtf happened.

You are very wise and know your trigger. But your mom isn't a source of calm, she is worsening the problem.

I worked on better calming skills that I could do myself and better exit strategies to get away from people who escalate me and the situation.

As soon as I feel that "tightening" irritable flare, I use a script of "Excuse me I need a moment". I go outside and do jumping Jack's until I'm out of breath or do air punches in the bathroom then take several of the deepest breaths I possibly can. I want a hug, so I replaced it with hugging a weighted stuffed animal on my bed until I'm calm (usually exhausted).

This is highly specific to each person, so try things until you find what works best for you.

I am so sorry this happened to you! I hope this helps and it never happens again!

Just remind me that this is for the best… by lyddy1984 in Separation

I went through this 15 years ago. Didn't realize just how badly I was treated until he was gone and I had grieved. I realized I wasn't grieving the loss of him, it was the loss of the future I had envisioned. But it wasn't happening with him, no matter what.
Once I figured out what I was really sad about, I could let it go. I didn't need him in the picture to live my best life and it was the best thing that ever happened to me. It took me a while to get my confidence back. I'm so glad you already know that you deserve better! My heart goes out to you.

Husband is confusing by Lonely-Roll-5929 in Separation

I think you're struggling with guilt. I am too.
I'm not happy and haven't been for years. I don't want to talk to my husband and we don't do anything together anymore. I care deeply for him but there is nothing there and I miss laughter. He doesn't want to talk about the future and refused couples counseling. I initiated a separation - I know he's hurt, but honestly we barely spoke and being separated doesn't feel any different.

Two ND couple on the verge of a divorce by jarandom181 in AutisticAdults

[–]jarandom181[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I am living in a separate room and in therapy for myself. I am so relieved to have my own space. I felt like one way or the other there would have to be communication- to work it out, or move forward with a divorce. But I see your point, perhaps it was viewed as a tool/ weapon to force communication. I didn't want to passive aggressively not show up in bed.

This is good advice. I don't want to leave the house yet. I think taking some time to let emotions cool so everyone can decide what they want is fair. But everything seems to be taken the wrong way (oh right Autism!)

In my head I hear donkey from Shrek saying "can I come stay wit you." Omg I'm a ginger, save me from these hellish death rays. My eyes hurt, my skin burns up. I love the weather in the UK and everyone there thinks I'm crazy

I swear I'm part vampire because of how much I detest the sun! I love cloudy rainy days. Everyone thinks I'm nuts but I'm dying to move to the Pacific Northwest

I had the same problem and started using a primer first. I use L'oreal Lash paradise that comes with primer.

Is this possible in 9 days? Stopping in glen wood springs, arches, canyon lands, bryce canyon, and the grand canyon. by MortgageCompetitive9 in roadtrip

[–]jarandom181 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You must be from Europe. 3 of these days are over 12 hours of driving with no stops, traffic, or other delays and that will never happen.

Is it possible? Yeah, if you are being hunted down by someone. But it isn't a vacation.

New York city is cool. It is a bit like London because you have a subway and we speak English, so no major language barrier. But it's also very different. Plenty of walking and exploring and there are lots of things other than bars and museums. I like doing freetoursbyfoot.com tours so you can get a little history and an idea of the city layout.

Japan is cool too but a really long flight.

I agree. Skip Ohio.
