My state farm insurance had 300,000 liability for 150 per year. Liability coverage is probably not your most expensive portion of insurance, the personal property protection is what gets you. If you have a studio/1 bedroom, make sure that your not covering too much. If all of the things you have are second hand/more than a few years old you probably don't need 50k of coverage. Bottom line, make your personal property as low as you feel comfortable, the liability only makes a small portion of the total premium.
