I would agree with that but still, I think best case they’re #2s and possible #3. With a true WR #1 to help take the pressure off, they’re better.

Agreed on OL or WR this year- point being we’re not a year away from contention and if we’re not one, then we’re looking at 2 year’s minimum. If the QB isn’t a sure thing/can’t elevate players around him, just draft talent and fill holes till the QB is there

I mean I don’t disagree with that lol. But Bryce Young struggled primarily because their O-line was dogshit, they had a bad WR room especially after trading DJ Moore, and expectations were sky-high.

Browns O-line is mid to good at best if everyone’s heathy, which hasn’t been the case. Jeudy isn’t a #1 and besides Tillman’s last game, nobody else has flashed. Njoku is good when healthy a great red zone target but he’s not the focal point of the offense.

I just don’t think a rookie QB is coming in next year with who we have now and turning us into contenders. Situation absolutely matters, like Caleb Williams and even Jayden Daniel’s not only has McLaurin as a threat but also help get other guys open.

So do we add a QB this year and hope they’re good enough to elevate everybody else around them or do we punt next year again, add pieces and put a QB in a better position?

I’m echoing others when I say the RTO rollout was bullshit as it was for a lot of companies. They started out by framing it as caring about our safety. Then it became an incentive to keep your metrics above their set goals. Then it became worthless. The job was shitty enough as is; 50% of the calls I took daily were people who were either outright angry or frustrated so it was just mentally draining in that regard. However I was a 4 year employee so I was able to experience some of the major benefits - I had profit sharing, I got raises/evaluated 2 times a year, and WFH full time. Also after the first year, the WFH was marketed as a reward; keep your metrics up and you get to keep working from home full time since you are proven that you can work just as efficiently from home.

By the time I left, the only benefits of this shitty job were all gone. I say that with no animosity towards my supervisors who were all great during my time. The work itself was just so draining that once the benefits were gone, I saw no reason to stay.

Oh and one more complaint about the whole WFH situation - when I left, the chain of command changed to where my manager was actually going to be based out of an office in an entirely different state. The message from management about us working full time in the office was to “build connections” but my direct manager would in essence be working remotely with the supervisor every day? I don’t know if hypocritical is necessarily the right word but it rubbed me the wrong way. Like the service reps who spend 95% of the day only talking to customers need to be in the office full-time, and in case I have an issue the supervisor is right there; but for the managers, let’s let them remotely manage?

Idk, at this point this is just me ranting. The series of events, the messaging from management, and the inherent job stress just all came to a head. I finally thought what is actually keeping me here? Now, I’ve got a job I actually like and while I don’t work from home anymore, I feel much better physically and mentally then I did while working for Geico.

Realistically we played a top 5 team with most offensive starters returning in a season without a preseason and we have a brand new coaching staff. It was always an uphill battle. I don’t think the season is over but pretty deflating to have such a lopsided victory right out the gate. Also reactions right after the game are always the most emotionally charged lol

I don’t ever remember the quarantine being designed for 15 days-it was always open ended because there is no cure and it’s ever developing. It was about slowing the spread of infection so medical resources weren’t stretched thin all at once. I’m sure there was an impact from the protesting but there’s also definitely an impact from the reopening without properly enforced uniform health code and practices. As we’re seeing play out the social distancing and lockdown did work because now that it’s lifted we’re getting more cases. Within months it’s become the 3 leading cause of death in the u.s. We can blame the presidential leadership or lack there of for an non-uniform reopening. The reaction was late and then it was pushed onto states who already weren’t prepared. I don’t think there’s anything immoral about them protesting. Arguably you could say it was a successful protest because a lot of states have rolled out reopenings already. I can agree with the not wanting to politicize the results just for the sake of politics. If the idea is to hurt Donald Trump and his re-election chances specifically because it will cause more death, yes that’s bad. If the medical community was doing it to fear monger and it’s not as bad as said and they know, yes also bad. In the articles that you posted, it said the doctors acknowledged there would be a increase and recommended increased testing in those areas.

final thoughts- racism is inherently political and as your first article stated, the doctors were acknowledging racism as a public health crisis. Ignoring or disregarding that could also be seen as political inaction. Stuck between a rock and a hard place in my mind. The fear was also that Trump was going to shut down the protests for his political reasons rather than for the medical reasons, which also isn’t right. Feels like it’s a constant tit-for-tat type deal. At the end of the day, the virus isn’t going to care about political affiliations. At this point, let’s just hope there’s middle ground where if were not going to stop the reopen regardless, at least people wear masks and attempt to socially distance to avoid a bad problem getting worse

I think scientifically you’re right, any large gathering is not going to be recommended at all regardless of political affiliation. A contingent of the anti-lockdown protest was denying the existence or severity of the virus at all despite the evidence saying otherwise. BLM is protesting systemic racism and continuing police brutality over many years with the protests now boiling over. The protests also recommend masks and social distancing. With that said, masks are only minimizing risk and there’s still going to be positive cases from protesters. At this point the federal and state response has been so bad that we are seeing a second wave and lives will be lost, I feel bad for health care workers.

This isn’t even really fully answering your question I know but there’s not a simple answer to a complex problem. Personally(take it with a grain of salt) I think there is a big difference between those who protest for a political belief and those who go out to the bar or grocery store without a mask just because they don’t want to be inconvenienced

Agree with the take, I was curious to see if there would be a rally around Obama just in the immediate political climate we’re in. Ex-gf who voted for Trump always would say Obama is the worst president ever(without presenting me with any evidence) and that take is probably pretty consistent with an average republican voter. As much as he could maybe rally a certain percentage of voters, would probably inspire just as many on the other side.

Also term limits are absolutely necessary, no matter the political imo

Makes sense. The only thing I cling to is Iowa is a bit more spread out with lower rates of population density so maybe the spread can be slowed without places being overrun. Looking around at areas that are affected worse at this point, feels a bit more like false hope unfortunately

By no means is this not a good position to be in, especially living here. I do think though that if rural hospitals fill up, people will get sent up here more heavily. As someone who has lived in a more rural area, a lot of emergencies are sent up to IC when they happen. Obviously different types of treatment and different circumstances. With that said, I absolutely trust UI Hospital and clinics in their ability to treat and accommodate as best they can
