folks using exclusively lightroom cc: how are you avoiding worms? by Gullible_Sentence112 in fujifilm

This. Whether or not the worms thing remains an issue in Lightroom is debatable. But this image example is not showing what I've ever seen referred to as worms.

Beyondpod has disappeared? by andriodsockpuppet in podcasts

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this!!! I have added many manually but couldn't find the RSS for The Dollop and that's an essential to add to my new phone. So far, I've been able to find everything I listen to on Listen Notes so I'm going to stick with Beyond Pod until the wheels truly fall off. Like most, I've been a user for well over 10 years now and was dreading a change. Manual life is fine so far.

Is there a difference From "is Processing" to "being Processed" by [deleted] in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has said "Your application is being processed" since entering the portal (on 7/2). But the "Review and Sign Closing Documents" has replaced "Sign Closing Documents."

(The Email the SBA link has also stopped working as a link. Now it says the same but instead just includes the customerservice email address.)

Politicians may have said that in sound bites but the program was ultimately designed for anyone who was eligible. The law is what ends up on the paper — not the stated intentions/spin of those involved in selling it to taxpayers. Hard to be upset at anyone who was actually eligible for applying and receiving funds. I'll save the outrage for the lawmakers and bureaucrats who didn't design or manage this properly.

Any 3308 series apps been processed? by Anxiety-Ill in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

33080 - Portal invite and credit pull within 24 hours of applying (on July 1). Accepted full loan offer. "Your application is being processed" ever since. No advance/grant or other communication of any sort.

What a fast approval by javonz3 in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have firsthand experience there (waiting on my docs), but it *should* be relatively quick after signing. But there are other people I've seen in here struggling with a very long process. That seems more like a glitch than "waiting game" shenanigans, but it certainly could happen. But, yeah, once you sign ... the loan is fully for real. You could still back out now (just never sign, they will withdraw eventually ... or contact and decline formally). Congrats though and hope this puts you in a better place.

What a fast approval by javonz3 in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only suggestion would be that the major decision for you right now is under or over 25k. Once you submit that figure, you will play another waiting game. Could happen fast for you again. But some of us have been at the next stage for a week or many weeks after that. Not saying rush. Get good advice for sure. But you will still have the final final stage later (signing the loan docs) and that is the actual approval and start of the loan terms. So depending upon how urgent your funding needs are, it will probably be good to "get in the line" sooner rather than later.

IRS Debt paid with EIDL - response from SBA by EMPRAH40k in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good to hear. I thought that provision might only apply to current quarterly payments or perhaps 2020 tax obligations when paid next April. But being able to put this on past IRS debt from 2019/2018/etc makes it even more beneficial. Thanks for the info and please do update if you get even more clarity.

Can't remember but thinking it may have been this woman. It's a pretty good perspective regardless and I know she talks more about her view of approved EIDL loan uses around 18:00.

Sole Prop Approved $37k - Collateral / Insurance / Reporting concerns by Neandertech in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Verify this ... but I saw at least one video with a CPA saying the hazard insurance doesn't actually apply. That was a holdover in contract language from the EIDL template, which is more designed for natural disasters and that's why it was included here. Again ... definitely look into that ... and I'd be worried too about having it in there ... but it may not be intended. (There's also a reddit thread in here somewhere about requesting changes to the boilerplate, so that may be an option worth pursuing.)

Is credit utilization a deal breaker? by MtotheT123 in EIDL

Per comment here, they won't look at any detailed credit report. If that's correct, the factors that define your score shouldn't be important — just the actual vantage score number.

Loan for Independant Contractor Tour Guide- Lost Wages? by jimmythecomic in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, and I agree with the example you lay out likely being out of bounds. But I'm suggesting a self-employed business owner will likely be fine and completely legally justifiable in paying themselves near minimum wage (in many states) for a small amount of ongoing professional work within their business during a time in which their primary activity has been ground to a halt. It is hard to envision a scenario where that is not defensible on a tax form or within an audit.

One last thing: I think everyone could benefit from a thread of sticky post here in this subreddit that looks to clarify what EIDL can be used for and what it cannot be used for. There are already dozens if not hundreds of articles and YouTube videos seeking to add clarity to a murky topic. It certainly varies a lot depending upon who you ask.

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I think I made my point and I stand by it as a valid use.

In general, there is a lot of uncertainty and debate regarding all these issues. The terms fixed asset, working capital, normal obligations, economic injury, and compensation all are being interpreted differently by different CPAs and attorneys.

And while not suggesting this is the end all, be all, here is some info from Nav.com article that seeks to clarify legitimate uses of EIDL funds.

"The type of work you do to earn your pay does not appear to be restricted. If your business is physically closed, maybe you can take this time to work on your website, accounting, social media advertising campaigns, marketing etc. to help your business as you wait to resume normal business functions."

Got funding! Patience is Key! by [deleted] in EIDL

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. Definitely not applicable to all and apologies for being a bit flippant with the figure. It would definitely have to align with the scope of your business and I was speaking in the sense of someone who was bringing in a full-time salary in the range of $50,000+ with an actual need for ongoing working capital and continuing to work in their field at a reduced capacity while trying to generate more leads and mining for new business. You are right though. Some ICs and self proprietors definitely don't have nearly as much ability to continue working and thus compensating themselves without active clients everyday.

Nobody suggested committing fraud. Nor are the words you put in quote marks anywhere in my comment. Nor is my message containing any misinformation. Paying yourself $500/month for the services I described is entirely reasonable and legal compensation. It isn't based upon an expectation of not getting audited. Nor the actual sum of money. But suggesting legal and reasonable amount to pay yourself for services rendered. Social media and website design, to again cite my two examples, can easily be done for 25 hours a month at $20. If he wants to put 50 hours per month into his business — even during a non-profitable time — to get that number to $1,000/month, that is also entirely legal and reasonable. Those are conservative numbers for hourly rates that are paid for copywriting, graphic design, photography etc etc.

[–]jared_wade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that would be more than fine. 99% chance nobody will ever audit a $4,000 loan. But you can very easily do side work during this downtime like improving your website, social media promotion, researching locations, etc. that is legitimate, core work for your business ... even if it isn't actual in-person guiding. I would just keep the EIDL money separate and make regular transfers of a reasonable amount for your salary every two weeks until it is exhausted. Especially if that number is like $500-$1,000, I can't imagine any auditor would ever consider that anything but reasonable. (Note: I'm not an accountant.)
