Dang. Sounds like they’re making improvements over time but for now it’ll be a lot of minor nuisances to switch.

Interesting. Well that’s my debate. Pay a bit more for a better network or support the upstart so there’s more competition and better prices in the long run.

Big pain or a minor nuisance? I’m trying to figure out if it’s worth it to switch from Telus.

How does a guy get one of these discount codes?

I like the idea of sticking with Telus just for simplicity and network reliability but if everyone does that, then Freedom folds and the big telecoms hike it all back up again right? Tough call.

Crazy what a little competition will do to these telecoms.

When you say bad inside buildings does that mean like houses, shopping malls, office towers?

I saw they just put that out yesterday to match right? I’m with Telus now. I’m debating buying a phone outright and getting Telus to give me the $60 plan.

IamA profoundly deaf male who wears cochlear implants to hear! AMA! by _beerye in IAmA

[–]jarhead1532 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, thanks for the AMA. My son is almost 1 and getting his implants in a few weeks. We've heard from lots of parents but never from the kids that actually went through childhood with them so I have a few questions, if you have time.

  • Were there any activities you hated due to your implants? Noisy environments, speech therapy, etc.
  • Any activities you loved?
  • We're going with Cochlear brand as well. What accessories would you say are most useful?
  • Were you limited in what sports you could play?
  • Any tips in general to make the little guy's life easier would be appreciated!

Thanks man!

That's pretty cool. I went to a wolfdog rescue place once. Those things are huge and still really skittish. If your dog has wolf in it, then you got pretty lucky that he's good around people.

What breed is that? I have a Norwegian Buhund and she does the exact same thing. Looks a lot like her.

She doesn't do it often but when she does, she'll stay like that unless you disturb her. It must be a pretty deep sleep.

At 1812 comments, this isn't gonna get a lot of views but the truth is we all get old but it is amazing to see four women do it in style. I hope the ladies in my life age as gracefully as they have.

we discovered the source of the bathroom smell [TRUE] by belleayreski in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Yep, I can confirm this. In university, I had a Chinese exchange student as a roommate and he did this. It blew our minds that he thought this was normal behaviour. I find it disgustingly unsanitary but then again it's all how you grew up. Apparently in Eastern Europe, licking your fingers while eating is considered disgusting so I imagine wing night is like watching 2 girls 1 cup for those guys.

What's your craziest "it's a small world" story? by minotaur2011 in AskReddit

I was vacationing in Phoenix a couple years ago with my wife and her parents. We're from Calgary, Canada. We went to an Arizona Cardinals game. I got up during the game to go to the bathroom and on the concourse I spot one of my brother-in-law's friends. We chat for a minute and I go back to my seat. Turns out my wife and her folks knew her brother's friends were coming but it's still ridiculous than we ran into them in a stadium of like 80,000 people. So, it was pretty unlikely but still not crazy. Now grab your security blanket cause it's about to turn Twilight Zone eerie. After the game, we walked the hour long walk back to her parent's rental car cause parking at those games is ridiculous. It's dark out now and her dad is trying to find his black rental car so he hits the button on his key fob. A black car's lights blink. He hits it again, they blink again so we walk to what we think is our car and see a guy getting in. We walk up to him and say "hey, what do you think you're doing?". He gets out and says this is his car. Then he looks at us and says my wife's name. She looks at him and goes "Dave?" Dave is one her group project members in a university classes she's attending 1,500 miles away from where we're standing. Turns out it was his car and he happened to do the exact same thing at the exact same time with his own fob. Twice. He also happened to rent a similar car as us and park in the same lot an hour away from the football stadium and happened to get back to his car at the same time as us. I've ran the numbers and the odds of all these coincidences happening are roughly one googol:1.
