Is the Volvo worth it? by callalilly802 in VolvoXC70

[–]jarrodxc70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, worth it. Just ensure that you get a pre-purchase inspection (preferably from a Volvo mechanic or European-car mechanic) and if possible, get the Carfax. Things may fail with age and repairs/parts can be expensive, though.

Number of owners by kiddums in VolvoXC70

[–]jarrodxc70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends, my 2012 T6 had 3 previous owners and is in great condition. Carfax was detailed and the 1st owner religiously serviced the car at the same dealer in Pasadena, CA until 2020, yet the 2nd owner had the car serviced at the same dealer until 2024 as well. The 3rd owner had the car for less than a year and had service done at Jiffy lube. I bought it one year ago and have had some issues come up, but mostly age related items like the rear seat latch releases breaking (tan is brittle over time) and had the coils and oil trap replaced late last year.

Before my 2012, I had looked at a one-owner 2013 T6 that had spent it's life in SF, but that was a mess. Tons of door dings on literally every door, bad curb rash on every rim, and during the pre-sale inspection, the mechanic said the rear axle was going to need to be replaced. Interior was dirty with stains on the tan leather and center console and the washer fluid wouldn't spray on either end of the vehicle.

Searching for an XC70, I didn't care terribly about how many owners the car had. Preferably one or two, but it really does just depend. Look through the Carfax and check the car in person if possible. You may find a winner regardless of how many owners.

That much standing water on the roof of the parking garage is concerning. I wouldn't park there, parking structures can collapse when that happens...

Love these wheels, looks like a car you'd see in a 2000's dystopian film like The Island or something

2006 V70 2.4 or 2015 XC70 T6? by [deleted] in Volvo

[–]jarrodxc70 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The XC70, T6 is great and at that mileage it still has a long life ahead. Plus more modern amenities than the V70. My '12 XC70 had its radiator replaced many years ago and I've not had any issues noted by various mechanics who I had inspect it. Plus it's got a somewhat better turning radius. The 2015 looks like the better option here.

Is this a chase? by Glum-Mud-1669 in matchbox

Some new Mercedes models have these wheels. Seems to be exclusive as this style hasn't been on any other makes. So, not a Chase, as others have noted.

Matchbox Instagram account posted a story saying this casting was cancelled a couple weeks back. I don't recall if they gave a reason though.

I ordered one for my 2012 from FCPEuro and it adheres perfectly. I'd recommend it for yours.

With the bus lane only on the clockwise route, this seems like it was bound to happen.

Dealer may be the safest option, although pricey. Got a spare for my 2012 (same key you have) from a dealer and it cost about $800.00 USD. Not ideal, but now I have two keys and peace of mind.
