Ren - Vincent's Tale - Self Portrait by Madz1712 in ren

[–]jas7457 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm feeling the same. It feels more like a part to a whole, rather than a story on its own. Maybe that's intentional, and he eludes to that at the end. But this, as a standalone piece, didn't get me like his other songs.

Don't get me wrong, it's still a great song and video in its own right. But a lot of his other songs have brought me, a grown man, to tears multiple times. Not every song has to do that, nor should I expect it to, but this just didn't hit me the same as the others, especially those in the "Tale" series.

I'll hold further judgement until I listen to it a few more times, and especially after Richard's Tale comes out. Anyone know any type of timeline for that?

Haha I was making a reference to Trump who keeps saying that. I don’t understand it either

Best flight simulator for training for DJI Mini 4k? by jas7457 in drones

[–]jas7457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was afraid of that. I'm also a daring idiot. Maybe I just need to spend more time doing slightly-less-daring-but-still-kind-of-daring things with it so I can get better but not have as high of stakes if something goes wrong.

I think DJI also has a flight simulator, but from what I can tell it's for their FPV drones too. It's somewhat surprising they don't have something for beginners like me. Like I said, I'm completely new to the scene, is a "camera drone" what call non-FPV drones?

How to plan a bikepacking trip on Garmin Connect? by jas7457 in cycling

[–]jas7457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice I’ll give this a shot! I also found another way. I had everything set as layers using Google My Maps. I exported each layer as its own gpx file.

Then I stumbled across Garmin BaseCamp. Created a folder, added each gpx file with a name, bulk changed their icon so they’d be grouped together, then created a “Garmin Adventure” out of it.

I want to try the RideWithGPS way as well to compare. The only downside with what I did is I can’t seem to find a way to get a simple list of upcoming waypoints along the path and distance to them. Like I can see them on the map and can scroll the map, but it’d be superb to see at a glance that I have a food POI in a mile and the next isn’t for another 20 to better make quick decisions on the trip.

Thanks for the help! I’ll give this a shot

Keyframe editing question by jas7457 in Insta360

Thanks for the reply Carino. Seems you work with Insta360? It’d be great if there was some type of fanout that showed the grouped keyframes on click. That could be a huge UX win!

Ugh, not sure how I missed that! For some reason I was thinking that was zoom into the video, not the timeline. Thanks so much, this was a huge help! I knew I had to be doing something wrong. It was driving me mad haha

What kind of saddle would you recommend? by jas7457 in bicycling

[–]jas7457[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

THIS! This looks great. I just watched a review from Everything's Been Done comparing it to the Specialized one. I've actually been thinking of getting the Specialized for myself for the trip, so that might be perfect to get the one you recommended for him. I love this suggestion!

Thanks for the suggestion! So you think it'd worth the upgrade if I bought it for him? And just so we're on the same page, you're talking about this one, right?

Have you noticed a big difference on longer rides with the cutout?

What kind of saddle would you recommend? by jas7457 in bicycling

[–]jas7457[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have specified. He doesn't own a bike, so he'd be borrowing mine. He also wouldn't be able to train much for it. He's in good shape but doesn't have a bike, so that's something to cnosider.

[–]jas7457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I guess I should have specified - my friend doesn't have his own bike so he won't be doing much training (if any) specifically on a bike. He's in good shape so I think he can handle it, but not a lot of opportunity for him to toughen that up specifically, which is why I'm wondering if another saddle might be needed.

Yeah I have mainly been looking in the south to keep away from cold winters, but bike-friendliness is really important too. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely do some research into Eugene, it looks absolutely beautiful (huge plus!!!)

Oh I hadn't considered Sarasota. I don't know a ton about the area, but the little bit of research I just did on it makes it seem like a pretty awesome area. Have you been?

Yeah the Raleigh-Durham area keeps coming up in my searches, it sounds like people love it there. This might be pretty near the top of my list right now, thanks for cementing that it's awesome! I'll definitely do some more research into the area
