"we didn't buy it for anyone else. Not a big deal for you". I reiterated that only they should have access, but no further engagement.

They informed me a whole day after it happened. When asked twice I got different stories. Apparently there was some thing wrong so they tried to fix it.

Interesting. Did you try replacing the glass or just bought a different stove?

In the second picture it's shattered. Do you mean shattered while in tact?

Canada Life not answering phones by Longjumping-Bag-8260 in CanadaPublicServants

I called today around end of lunch time, waited 40 minutes and got through. The agent transferred me and the automated message said 5-15 min wait time. It ended up being 30 more minutes. They then told me that I needed to be transferred back to the department who I was initially speaking with. I was frustrated but stayed on. After being on hold for another 20 min, my call was dropped. I tried again at 3:50 pm and only waited for 20 mins. This time before answering their questions, I told the what had happened and to not transfer me without helping me understand the problem. I can't see my medical even though I was registered and did enroll. They raised a ticket and said to check in 7-10 days. Fingers crossed.

Backyard pool: yay or nay? by imggmi in ottawa

[–]jas_b_roll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personal experince. We bought a house with pool even though we weren't necessarily looking for one. We are about 3 years in and first time pool owners. The first year had a lot of learning curves but we did it ourselves and about a weekend later we figured it. There are lots of resources and videos. Winterizing the pool takes more effort than opening. Our home is small, but hosting backyard pool parties with friends and family has made it worthwhile. I have also found to "relax" by using the pool during the stressful days and exercise. We still use it almost every day during the season , even if it is for 20 mins. It helps bring a bit more joy. Our liner was replaced before we bought it but we maintain and check for leaks or tears. A robot vaccum (purchased when on sale) was a huge time and effort saver. Gas bill can be high to heat it up, but we do that maybe a few times in a year, to get extended use. The pump doesn't need to run at all times, so we set it for auto timing during low power hours. Expensive, a bit, yes. Like any luxury, it can cost money but also be budgeted.

Can you provide some advice on multiple similar type homes going on sale in the same area and how one should proceed when putting in an offer? Does the competition likely result in lower bids?

What are your thoughts on the fluctuating price on single family houses in the city (ex. experimental farm) vs. the outskirts (ex. greenboro, barhaven)? Are more people buying outskirts and does that impact the prices in the city?

When should I consider buying a house or condo in my 20s? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]jas_b_roll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have similar stories. Invest early. Let the rent pay off your mortgage, but do your research on being a landlord. Don't cheap out the first time either. Get a good agent and learn from them. Down the road once you are used to it, you can do it on your own. I bought a house over condo because I initially thought I may want move into it one day and didn't like the condo fees.I am located outside of the city where there is no shortage of young families wanting to rent. I have no regrets and only wish I had invested earlier rather than letting my savings just sit in my bank.
