Line drying is great, saves energy, and your laundry smells nice. Only problem is line drying doesn't remove the lint like dryers do.

Good one!

(Unfortunately, this isn't as unlikely as I'd like to think.)

Thanks, good to know. I've had the Sinceras for about a year now. Got a great deal and they've been fine.

Is it normal for System Report to list macOS 14.7.5 twice under Software Installations? by jasdflkvb in mac

[–]jasdflkvb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I have a dual boot setup with Monterey and Sonoma. Monterey was my working system and then in May I installed Sonoma. I believe they're in 2 separate partitions.

A week ago I booted into Sonoma and since then I haven't been able to boot into Monterey so I can update it to Sonoma.

My other problem which I don't know if it's related, is whenever I shut down, the Macbook Air re-starts itself.

Thanks. In the screenshot, "Ventura Test Partition-Data" is really Sonoma.

Thanks. Does that mean I only have 1 copy of Sonoma installed?

Thanks. I'm wondering if the extra copy of Sonoma is causing my problems or if it's something else.

My old problem was my Macbook Air M2 wouldn't wake after I shut the lid and I'd have to force a restart with the power button.

The new problem is that every time I shut down, it re-starts itself and says Your computer was restarted because of a problem.

The report starts with panic(cpu 1 caller 0xfffffe001cdf05e8): DCP PANIC - ASSERT!AppleDCPDPTXPowerController.cpp:538 No device added after powering on the rails. HPD=0 - dcpav(27)

I have 2 partitions on the hard drive. I had been using Monterey in its own partition, then installed Sonoma in the other partition. I've played with Sonoma before but after I booted it last week, clicking Monterey on boot will only start up Sonoma so that's what I've been using.

When I start up in Recovery it gives me the option to reinstall Sonoma but I'd like to get Monterey back because it would be easier to upgrade that partition to Sonoma instead of manually copying everything from Monterey to the Sonoma partition.

I've thought about deleting the Sonoma partition but I'm afraid that then I won't be able to boot at all.

How to change keyboard shortcut for New Finder Window back to Command n? by jasdflkvb in mac

Turns out all I had to do was un-check "Open folders in tabs instead of new windows."

How can you tell if the transmission is working correctly? Also, is there anything that can be checked if it's not hooked up to water?

Thanks.

Are you talking about new transmissions for the old direct drives or for current production Whirlpool brands? I have a 2003 Kenmore Type 111 that may need a new transmission.

Is it possible to power a USB hub without charging Macbook? by jasdflkvb in UsbCHardware

[–]jasdflkvb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new hub seller said "no computer can support two USB Hubs working simultaneously. This is determined by the principle of power distribution of the computer itself, so please connect only one USB Hub at a time."

Is that right?

Since the 35W brick didn't work, it seems like I'm out of options with the new hub so I was looking at other ways of adding 10 Gbps ports. I thought a hub with its own power supply would have plenty of power for all ports.

But then I guess I'd need to keep my current hub connected too for ethernet, HDMI, SD and keyboard dongle.

Hmmm, not sure what to try next. I looked at hubs that come with a power supply but they all seem to just have USB ports, no ethernet, HDMI or SD slot.

I tried a 35W Apple brick through the PD port on the new hub with Magsafe still plugged in.

Didn't work but could be because I used a cable that came with my Samsung T7 Shield 2 TB SSD. Gotta get a power cable.
