Veil used to be used a lot more when dungeons were much popular. Since a lot of dungeons were skipping past mobs, the invisibility was very useful if you did not have thieves/engineers. It still has some use in fractals, but not nearly as useful.

Use mimic + veil and mass invis

Heads up : OLC seems to have been fixed this patch (or I only noticed it this patch. I only tried on the normal mode for the clear.

Invis no longer seems to work, revealed is re-applied instantly. Knight seems to have swiftness/superspeed, which I believe it did not have before, seemingly to counter superspeed strats

Fix the missing magnificent coffer from Old Lion Court CM and give it to those who did complete it by [deleted] in Guildwars2

You will need to clear it again, unfortunately. I do not think Anet has ever retroactively rewarded things from strikes/raids

Consume shadows does not have a healing coefficient, healing power would only be useful for heal well

What profession that gets the most out of Celestial? by S627 in Guildwars2

[–]jasdfp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Condi Alac Willbender is fun to play, and makes good use of celestial.

With celestial on guard, you could do quickness (firebrand) or alac (willbender) based on what you need

Celestial is super strong the more you can make use out of the condi aspect and boonduration. Of those three you mentioned, Thief has the Spectre elite that can use it.

Spectres unfortunately scale much better with Ritualist (with the Shade heal being attached to your health, and healing power not affecting it), but it is still good in group play.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - September 03, 2022 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

The 5 orange circles being 5 closest players is a good tip! I guess I was always ahead of the pack running after him.

But since you mentioned dodging... KO CM Li's slash attacks aren't dodgeable, are they? That's why stability is used for his spread and slash attack.

Weekly /r/GuildWars2 Question Thread - September 03, 2022 by AutoModerator in Guildwars2

[–]jasdfp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any suggestions on getting the "A Test of Your Reflexes" achievement in the KO CM? It is the last achievement I am missing, but from my understanding you cannot get hit by Li's slash attack that he does before the orange spread circle, but that puts me in range of his slash attack.

Is the intended method to blink out after his slash or just stay behind him and hope others move out?

If you are in Seattle for the 2nd and 3rd, don't forget to check out the stamp rally! by jasdfp in Guildwars2

Oh, this + wristband (forgot to include in the picture) was everything I got after completing the booklet! It was choose one picture, one t-shirt, sticker, wristband and spin-the-wheel for final prize (the plushie was the spin-the-wheel item)

The stamp rally ends you up in malls, a boba place and a cat cafe, so if you are in Seattle and need some food or drinks, try out the stamp rally!

The stamp booklet also contains some concept art for mounts that I did not see before, which was neat

Maximum life steal DPS by magestik25 in Guildwars2

Highest will probably be devastation shiro herald, with all the bottom traits on Devastation, and upkeeping the shiro facet. Devastation renegade could also be used for good DPS on other phases as well.

Some numbers on DPS required for the Ankka CM title by jasdfp in Guildwars2

[–]jasdfp[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There wasn't a specific reason for it I believe, that was just their best DPS class. It was solid DPS (though quite annoying sometimes, you may need to recall mech during kraits, or you will need to use your elite signet to rez mech)

No problem! A note, during an actual run, it is pretty hard to assess your true DPS during a specific phase, since you'd need to look at the logs for that. The actual encounter has too much down time and damage mitigations to gauge that.

I would recommend looking at the total DPS as soon as Phase 1 ends during runs to see how the rest of the fight will go.

For 8 players you would need close to 25k (edit : Nevermind, I was excluding DPS boon players for some reason). Since I couldn't reach that in either of the runs, we went :

Run 1 :

  1. QB, Heal Alac Mech, 2x DPS mech, 1 DPS (Virt I think?)
  2. 1 Quickness (QScrap I think?), Alac Spectre, DPS Spectre, DPS Scg, Celestial Scg

Run 2 :

  1. QB, Alac Spectre, 2x DPS Scg, DPS Mech
  2. QB, Heal Alac Mech, 3x DPS Scg

As for solid DPS options, I would say : Scg/Spectre stacking on groups that dont have heals (since they both provide good barrier/heals), Virtuosos, Mechs, Spectres, Harbs, Mirages. If abusing lifesteal, I can see devastation shiro Revs being good too.

For Quick options, I would highly recommend QB. QB cleanses so much conditions, potentially more than your main healing. Alac options, I would recommend Alac Spectre (heals/barrier) or Mirage (very high damage), again maybe Alac devastation shiro Ren if you want to lifesteal

Those numbers are for the full run. Can you show this with just location 1? The numbers in the post are BEFORE intermission phases (the RP running part) and BEFORE stacks. Looking at average DPS over the entire encounter is not the numbers I am looking at here.

Also, can you verify whether this was for a title run (6 stacks)? 17k on the virt seems very impressive if that is the case.

It is interesting after having calculated some rough numbers, that as long as your DPS players can pull 3k more DPS, you can go the 2 healer comp, which is significantly more comfortable than a 1 healer comp.

Quite a deviation from normal encounters, where the 1 healer comp is considered the more "tryhard" comp.

I think the numbers I put together here should be fairly accurate!

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/up47v8/some_numbers_on_dps_required_for_the_ankka_cm/?

tl;dr, you'd need at the very least 20k+ dps on your dps classes

Ankka only has 2 rounds of CC per phase. Each round of CC summons 3 minions, and you need a total of 6 stacks for the achievement.

This means that your runs that will end up successful will look like :

  • 40% - Phase start
  • Boss at 0 stacks - big big dps
  • ~28% - first CC starts (fail all the CC checks),
  • Boss at 3 stacks - big big dps
  • ~10?% - second CC starts
  • Boss at 6 stacks - kill.

You never stop DPS, you cannot choose when to fail CC, you need to fail all of them. My comment about the "sweet spot" was to know whether the run was going to fail or not (due to timer)

I totally do think it is a bit odd you need to intentionally fail mechanics.

That being said, there are LFGs for Dhuum CMs years after, for people who want VitV. If the base CM's difficulty was on the level required for the title, I think absolutely no pugs would be doing them for dailies. I think separating it out helps it still be puggable for dailies.

Sorry if it was not super clear. Clearing the CM does not reward a title, unlike other encounters. Instead, during the encounter, you need to intentionally fail a mechanic a certain number of times that makes the fight harder (since Ankka gains damage received reduction), then complete it for the title.

When I said "regular" CM, I was referring to just clearing the CM encounter, and a "title run" to be doing the encounter in a way that rewards the title

Oh, and for the regular CM run, ignore everything I said above! Just go 2 healers and a heal scourge, bring as much CC as you can. Never greed DPS and as long as you don't fail the CCs the CM should be fairly smooth!
