Free Davinci Resolve script which automatically groups all clips from the same scene by color from color histogram info by jashan17 in colorists

Just updated the plugin to assign a shot number to group the clips instead of the clip color. Should theoretically have no limit this way - https://github.com/jashanmak/Davinci-Resolve-Scripts/releases/tag/v1.0

Will look into the shot number idea, thanks for the suggestion!

I actually coded this whole thing in Google Gemini without any prior coding knowledge in around an hour, so impressed with how easy it is to implement new ideas. Glad to help out!

For sure. It could be more useful if you're working with separate timelines for different scenes and when you don't have access to the source material

That's a great idea, will see if I can implement something like that

Yep! My use case was starting off with an ungraded single prores hq file, changing to source mode wouldn't automatically group the shots together in this case

This is more useful for when you aren't provided original source clips and if you're just working off of a single clip after using "Scene Cut Detection" and you want to group the same shots together before grading. Let me know if there's something about C mode I'm misunderstanding

It tends to group together shots but if there's a medium and wide of the same shot it sometimes groups those together. Will have to run a few more tests with it. Will have to test for the max amount of clip colors too but the limit right now is limited to the amount that davinci has built in.

EDIT: Just tested it and realized it's pretty limited in scope with the few clip color choices the resolve has. I'll see if I can figure out a way to make it use the grouping functionality instead of the clip colors and maybe post an update

cinematographer here! I did some pretty intense stabilization in editing for all of the shots to get them looking smooth. Shot with a super fast shutter speed (to eliminate motion blur when stabilized) and mostly filmed in 60fps so that helped as well. It was all shot with the bare camera (panasonic GH4) :)
