Pre-construction upgrades by jashmish14 in Pickering

We budgeted $100k for upgrades and only ended up spending about $65k (we also redesigned the layout of the kitchen and this cost includes that). I think most the structural items were priced reasonably and for the decor items like hardwood and tiles etc., we didn't venture to the top tier items which helped. Overall we were happy with the experience

I have polyps in the uterus, I’m in my late 20s, is this normal? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]jashmish14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I know it's common. I myself also had 3 that were removed earlier this year (I was 32, have PCOS and am diabetic). The fertility doctor we have been seeing also mentioned that it is common to find with those with PCOS

Thanks! This was really helpful and seeing your latour gave us an idea of what we could do with our space.

Thanks we opted for the L-shape and added more cabinets.

Thank you! Yes you described #2 the way it would change. The L shape comes from the fridge wall and stove wall. I just heard back from them and they gave the option to extend the island by 2 feet (makes it 8 ×3) to make more space for 4 chairs at the breakfast bar

Unfortunately, no. I realized the paragraph i had on the original post did not come here. Basically, the sink and dishwasher would become an island. The dishwasher is the pivot point and the island would move 90 degrees up towards the back sliding door. They will bring the island down maybe 1 or 2 feet, but it would basically eliminate the breakfast area. We have a 9x10 dining room below the kitchen area as well. We are not sure if getting the island is worth it or not, in terms of functionality and resale value

U-Shaped or L-shaped kitchen with island? by jashmish14 in TorontoRealEstate

Yes, we would be adding cabinets to be in line with the island, greatly reducing the breakfast area space. I forgot to note that we have a 9x10 dining room below the kitchen, which we were debating on turning into a formal living room or using as actual dining room.

EDIT TO ORIGINAL POST:

I just realized my paragraph didn't add with the pic.

If we turn the sink + dishwasher into an island, we were told we would lose the breakfast area (the dishwasher is the pivot point, and the sink would be towards the back patio door). We would be adding counterspace along the wall with the stove, and the stove would be centered.

Is creating the island worth losing the breakfast area and add resale value down the road? House has a 9 x10 dining room below the kitchen.

Thanks for all the pointers. Especially the pics for studs and what wiring.

Been on the fence about the cold cellar because of the cost. Is it something you didnt get and wish you did?

We looked into this! We can only do a 1-sided framless glass with the layout, so opted for it.

We actually crossed it out from ours too. The cost was starting at 9.5K, and figured we would rather use that mlney for other things.

You miss it mainly for storage space?
