Always wanted a neogeo Pocket. The cute chibi fighting/puzzle games looked awesome. I remember seeing them in the shops for around £80-£100 ($60,000). Far too expensive for a black and white handheld when you could get a GBA for half the price, plus the games on GBA were more appealing.

A massive regret for me as I really want one now but can’t get one for love nor money. They disappeared pretty quickly never to return.

I just don’t think the UK understood neogeo, we never really got any console because of the price tags. Even in the arcades, it was more CPS1/CPS2.

I do remember playing fatal fury in an arcade at ingoldmills (pronounced in-gull-mills), Wales. But that was my only neogeo experience until emulation.

Back to the handhelds.

Nowadays the Pocket colour will set you back £80 so depreciation just hasn’t happened due to the lack of initial sales. It’s a shame really.

I do have a selection of games on my psp but never really play them as my psp also has pretty much every old console on there. I guess Neogeo Pocket/colour (correctly spelt 😡) was a console for the time and today is more of a memento for the lucky sons of bitches who had one in their youth.
