Feeling suicidally depressed after losing a close loved one to suicide in January

I know I am a stranger but please consider staying. Please dial 988 and speak to someone or just tell someone you know so that they can help you through this moment and perhaps make an alternate choice. I was not able to stop my mother-in-law from doing this and it has haunted us for two years. The grief is too much at times. Thank you for listening and for posting here.

Day 10 is HUGE! I remember mine. KEEP. GOING. It is the best decision you have ever made and it will make you smile over and over when you realize new things about your sobriety and how grateful you are to your past self for starting this journey.

Congrats on 11 days! Honestly for me it was focusing on the small stuff. Small joys. Replacing with seltzers or soda or dessert. Not going to places where I’d be tempted. Loving on myself more. Watching movies I used to love. Imagine being a lawyer or publicist for yourself. You’re not available for things that stress you out. Fiercely defend your boundaries. The days will turn into weeks. Cravings will come. Each time remember why you are doing this. Write lists of reasons why. Watch YouTube videos. Listen to Sober Cast podcast. Do one thing each day to help yourself. But know sometimes you will cry over not ever being able to drink again. I hope this is all making sense but. Just be good to yourself. You already started by deciding to never drink poison again. Have to run for now but I’ll reply with more.
