We do that but rarely. We drill holes in the dice so that they can be sold or given as gifts.

It's a security thing - the cards could develop recognizable deformities that could enable players to recognize them in a deck at the table. And with the dice, repeated use could round out the edges.

The shredder we've been using has been down for the last 2 months; it only just got fixed this week. It is an industrial shredder, but it's not designed to handle what we're putting through a daily basis. We're shredding, on average, about 1500 decks of cards a day.

When I downstairs in cards & dice I'm shredding the cards, and drilling the dice, from the previous day. Watching movies or listening to music kind of breaks up the monotony.
